The Oku Ibom Ibibio and chairman of Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, His Eminence, Nteyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk has eulogized the prelate emeritus of Methodist Church, Nigeria, His Eminence (Dr.) Sunday Coffie Mbang as a gift to Akwa Ibom, Nigeria and the world at large.
The Patriarch of Ibibio, Nteyin Etuk, who stated this during a pre-birthday visit to the worldwide celebrated cleric and former President of World Methodist Council, Dr. Mbang, at his residence in Uyo, the state capital on Monday, offered thanks to God for preserving and prospering his life to successfully serve the Christendom and humanity in general over the years.
Accompanied by two paramount rulers: HRM, Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang (ONNA) and HRM, Edidem Clement Francis Ekpenyong (Ibesikpo Asutan); Nteyin Etuk said he undertook the pre-birthday solidarity visit to underscore the love and respect the royal fathers have for him as an illustrious son of Akwa Ibom State.
The President General of the Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers, who doubles as the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, thanked Dr. Sunday Mbang for the prayers and immense contributions he has been making for Akwa Ibom State.
The Oku Ibom Ibibio, who later presented birthday gifts to the cleric said, “I am happy to have come, to see you, to know this area and I ask God to continue protecting you. I thank you for the prayers and immense contributions you have made for this state. I pray the Almighty God to grant you long life and the grace to continue in your good work of promoting Akwa Ibom State.
“We came to honour you ahead of your birthday celebration, share in this joy with you and celebrate you. We are proud of you. You are a gift to us as a people, as a State, nation and the world at large. We pray for God’s continued guidance upon you and for Akwa Ibom State. May we keep growing and developing.”
Dr. Mbang, who was full of happiness, expressed appreciation to the Ibibio patriarch for the royal visit and later took him and his entourage to his Chapel, where after brief inspection of the unique facility, offered solemn prayers for them.
He said, “I thank you so much for this visit. Again I’m glad you came. When you told me you were coming I was elated. Infact today is one of my happiest days as my late mother’s traditional ruler has come to see me in my home. You’ve been so good to me and I thank you so much.”
Dr. Mbang was born on August 26, 1936.
