Gov Eno Condoles With Mercy Eka, Family Over Mother’s Demise

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commiserated with Mrs. Mercy Anietie Eka, Coordinator of the Arise Elderly Care Initiative and her family over the demise of her mother, Late Mrs. Aniedi Utok, ASP (Rtd).
The Governor registered his condolences at the funeral service held at St Athanasius Catholic Church, Nung Oku Ibesikpo, Ibesikpo/Asutan Local Government Area.
He noted that the loss of a loved one usually presents an emotionally painful moment. He urged her and the family to be consoled by her legacy of sound Christian values.
Eulogising the deceased, the Governor said she was a devout Christian who imbued in her children and, indeed, all who came in contact with her an acute understanding of the concept of right and wrong.
“The loss of a loved one, especially a dear mother, whose love, care, wise counsel and moral compass helped shape one’s life, presents an emotionally painful moment, and we feel your grief and sadness that this painful occurrence has brought upon you, your family and siblings.
“Your late mother, who was also my beloved aunty, was a woman of deep convictions, a disciplinarian, little wonder that she pursued a successful career in law enforcement- rising to the position of an Assistant Superintendent of Police ( ASP.)
“I know her demise has created a big void in your life but I urge you to be consoled by the life of impact she led, the joy of seeing her children rise to positions of responsibility and accomplishments in their undertakings, which you symbolize.

“I am convinced that you will continue to embrace the values she held dear- values of love compassion, transparency and faith in the ennobling ideals of our common humanity.
“As she goes home to be with the Lord today, I pray for the repose of her soul in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers,” he added.
To immortalize the deceased, Governor Eno directed the renovation of St. Athanasius Primary School where the funeral took place and restated his administration’s commitment towards ensuring a conducive learning environment for children across the State.
