Gov. Eno Flags Off Construction Of Nsit Atai Chairman’s Residence At Odot
…Reaffirms Commitment To Grassroots Governance
Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has flagged off the construction of the Nsit Atai Local Government Chairman’s Residence at the Local Government Headquarters, Odot, in furtherance of his administration’s commitment to strengthening effective grassroots governance.
The flag-off ceremony, which was held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, was performed on behalf of the Governor by Rt. Hon. Elder Mfon Idung, Member representing Etim Ekpo/Ika State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Local Government.
Speaking at the event, Elder Idung conveyed the Governor’s resolve to ensure that local government chairmen reside within their respective council areas in order to enhance accessibility, accountability, and prompt service delivery to the people.

“This project underscores the Governor’s belief that governance must be close to the people. When leaders live among their people, governance becomes more responsive, transparent, and impactful,” he said.
He added that the project aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda, which prioritises inclusive governance, infrastructure development, and people-oriented leadership across all levels of government.

In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, expressed profound appreciation to Governor Eno for approving the construction of the Chairman’s Residence, describing it as a landmark intervention that would strengthen governance and deepen leadership presence at the grassroots.

“This residence is more than a building; it is a symbol of trust, responsibility, and commitment to the people of Nsit Atai. I assure His Excellency that this facility will be prudently utilised in the service of our people upon completion,” the Chairman stated.
He further reaffirmed his administration’s support for the governor’s developmental initiatives across the state.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Member representing Nsit Atai State Constituency, Hon. Prince Aniefiok Attah, who commended the Governor for prioritising the welfare and effectiveness of local government administrations. Also speaking were the APC Chapter Chairman, Rt Hon. Lawrence Udosen, and Obong Ntiaobong Essien, who described the project as timely and impactful.
The Paramount Ruler of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, HRM Edidem Prophet Peter Effiong, JP, also conveyed a goodwill message through his representative, the Group Head of Afaha, Chief Mfon Sunday. The Paramount Ruler thanked Governor Umo Eno for facilitating the relocation of the Council Chairman to reside within the Local Government Area, noting that the move would enhance access to leadership by the people.
He observed that the Chairman’s presence within the Local Government would foster closer engagement, quicker response to community needs, and stronger trust between the government and the grassroots.
Speaking on behalf of the youths, the Youth Representative, Hon. Johnny Johnny, pledged the support of Nsit Atai youths to the Chairman and the contractor to ensure a smooth and hitch-free execution of the project.
“The youths of Nsit Atai are fully committed to protecting and supporting this project. We will stand by the Chairman and the contractor to ensure its successful completion,” he assured.
The Vice Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Affiong Amanam, also expressed gratitude to the Governor, noting that the project would enhance stability, coordination, and administrative efficiency at the council level.
The project is being executed by ALKAY Integrated Services, with Obonguwana Elder IniObong Obot as the Chief Executive Officer. Speaking on behalf of the firm, Elder Obot assured the State Government and the people of Nsit Atai of timely delivery and strict adherence to approved specifications.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Hon. M.C. Akpan, who appreciated the Governor, his representative, and all stakeholders for their collective support toward the development of Nsit Atai Local Government Area.
The ceremony attracted political stakeholders, traditional rulers, community leaders, party officials, council officials, youths, and members of the public.
