... "Your Good Works Will Campaign For You" - Bishop Ayah
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reiterated commitment to good governance devoid of ethnicity, favouritism and nepotism.
Governor Eno gave the assurance Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the Uyo Catholic Diocesan New Year Fasting, and New Evangelization Outreach Assembly held at the Cardinal Ekanem Seminary Ground, Dominic Utuk Avenue, Uyo.
He said the welfare and security of the State and its citizenry will continue to enjoy priority, and also assured of more impactful projects across the State in the new year.

“We will continue to provide adequate security, protection, welfare and projects that will impact the lives of our people positively. We will leave no local government area behind.
“We will not govern on the basis of ethnicity or ‘who you know’. We will continue to spread our projects across the landscape of our State to the benefit of our people, particularly for those in the rural communities,” he said.

He commended the Church for its unwavering support through prayers, saying, “The Catholic Church has my deepest respect at all times. This is not just by words but by actions through the fellowships that we share.”

The Governor specially acknowledged the remarkable spiritual guidance and contributions of the Catholic Archbishop of Calabar, Archbishop Joseph Ekuwem, to the success of his administration.
“As the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Christian Leaders Forum, Archbishop Joseph Ekuwem, was chosen because of his deep faith in God, discipline, and commitment to his responsibility,” he noted.
He said he was in the new year service to share fellowship with the Catholics, and to wish them and the State a happy new year.

Governor Eno used the opportunity to advise young people to continue to respect leaders. The onerous responsibility of governance should not be appreciated with insults.
“While it is easy to criticize, you must criticize with conscience, proffering solutions, and knowing that our leaders are all humans. So, let’s be kind and encourage them in order to continue to get the best from them,” he added.
In his homily, the Catholic Bishop of Uyo, Most Rev. John Ayah, who preached on the theme: “Return to Your Stronghold, O Prisoners of Hope,” drawn from Zechariah 9:12, admonished Christians to continue to trust and believe in God as He is out to turn around their situations for the better in the new year.
He appreciated the Governor for creating time to share fellowship with the church, and for his continuous support.
The Bishop commended Governor Eno for his leadership strides and impact, and assured him that his good works will campaign for him in the 2027 election.
