Gov. Eno Speaks On A’Ibom Summits On Power, Tourism, Corporate Business In 2025

In furtherance of efforts to actualise the ARISE Agenda, Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno has stated that the state will host three major summits this year, 2025.

He said that the summits, which will include Power, Tourism, and a Corporate Business Summit to bring together Akwa Ibom indigenes who are major players in the corporate world within and outside Nigeria, will have as its objective the intensification of efforts, through partnership, to achieve needed growth and progress in Akwa Ibom State.

Speaking at the special interdenominational New Year Thanksgiving/Covenant Service, held at the State’s International Worship Centre in Uyo on January 2, 2025, the Governor noted that the State aimed at achieving a constant power supply, hence the imperative of a summit to fashion out practical steps to enhance its actualisation.

The governor, who noted that the state has become a tourism destination in the country, added that there is a need for a tourism master plan that will help enhance its tourism potential.

Similarly, the Governor said the State is blessed with major players in the corporate world who could be of immense value to the collective interest of the State and its citizens and, as such, must draw from their experiences and expertise to help the State get to its next level of development.

He said the Corporate Business Summit is very important as it will enable his administration to identify, celebrate, and partner with different players of the State’s origin in the corporate world, especially as the State seeks to have its youths mentored by those who have made impacts in their different fields of endeavour.

Governor Eno, himself a seasoned entrepreneur, said the state government under his leadership remains focused and committed to the ARISE Agenda, saying that it will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders across the state.

He reaffirmed plans to commence town hall meetings at Federal Constituency levels in February and urged stakeholders in the different federal constituencies to synergise and have a common position for their respective constituencies.

Gov. Eno noted that such a common position would enable the government to make development plans based on the actual needs and requests of the people.

He said at the town hall meetings that 62 small and medium-scale entrepreneurs, two from each local government area, will be empowered with N5 million each, as well as with other empowerment packages.

The Governor said many plans and activities have been lined up for the new year but assured that with the multiplied grace from God, all shall be accomplished.

He rededicated the State to God, appreciated everyone for taking part in the service, and wished all Akwa Ibom people a happy new year.

In his remark, the State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Chris Nyong, appreciated Governor Umo Eno for sustaining the New Year Thanksgiving/Covenant Service and prayed that the covenant-keeping God will continue to bless the State and its leaders.

He equally appreciated the governor for all the development and compassionate strides, including the ARISE Elderly Initiative, ARISE Shelter, 13th Month Salary -Enomber, Youth Empowerment, Health Insurance, and others he has brought to bear in the state.

Earlier in his message, Rev. Dr. Godwin Amaowo of the Assemblies of God, ministering on the theme “Multiplied Grace,” taken from the Bible book of 2 Peter Chapter One, Verse Two, said grace is not earned or deserved but is God’s riches at Christ’s expense that is given freely to men.

He advised that to have multiplied grace, one must be humble, know God and Jesus, and also walk with those who carry favour.

The service, which featured choir ministrations, praise and worship, and a Bible reading by the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, was attended by Akwa Ibom people across all strata, as well as friends of the State from all walks of life.
