On Thursday, January 9, 2020, the Federal Government, through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), honored Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, Senator representing AkwaIbom North East Senatorial District and who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) for his role in the Escravos Gas to Liquid (EGLT) Project dispute settlement.

The development attracts substantial revenue into the federation account.
