Senator Albert Bassey Akpan has said that his focus is on projecting the good plans he has for the people of Akwa Ibom State as the next Governor in 2023 rather than being distracted by the antics of his traducers.
Senator Albert said he cannot, therefore, dissipate his energy on responding to detractors bent on diverting his attention with spurious and untenable reports on social media.
He assured the delegates and stakeholders in Oron Local Government Area on Saturday, March 2, 2022, that implementation plans are already afoot to turn the fortunes of the Oron people around for good.
“I won’t join issues with anyone on social media because those attacking me do not know what they are doing. If I wasn’t important, they will not attack me on social media. But the more it comes, the more I wax stronger. I am interested in telling you what I will do for you as the next governor,“ he assured them.
The senator charged the people to use their votes wisely for the betterment of their future and not be intimidated by anyone to board a wrong vehicle that may take them to the wrong destination.
“I believe that standing by me is the best option for the development and progress of Oron,” he said.

He assured them that their major issues of concern placed before him like the Ibaka Deep Seaport, and the upgrade of Maritime Academy into a university, among others, have already been noted for proper implementation by his government.
“I am not coming to tell you that we will dualise roads to Oron because road construction is a primary responsibility of the government. I am coming to tell you that if you trust me with your vote, your life will never be the same again. I am ready to empower you, I am ready to make sure that whatever money I see in government works for you,” he added.
He told them that he was there to enter into partnership with them for the uplift of the Oron people.
The five local governments of Oro nation, he assured, are to enjoy commensurate projects in line with the peculiar nature of their challenges.
The Director-General of Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Organisation, Pastor Sunny Ibuot, described OBA as a quality product that did not need much advertising.
He presented him as not just a loyal and committed party man, but a local man with local solutions to local problems.

Sir Emem Akpabio, the Chairman of the Campaign Council, said OBA is a young man who loves the youth, respects the elders and is deeply conversant with the problems of the area.
He said the senator knows the problems of Oron, having traversed the entire area when he was the chairman of, the Inter-ministerial Direct Labour Project under Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio.
The Chapter Chairman of Oron, Mr Murphy Esin, thanked the senator for recognising and consulting them, assuring him that power belongs to God and not man.
Hon Patrick Okung and Barr Bassey Willie, responding on behalf of the stakeholders, assured that they will partner with the senator to ensure his emergence as Governor in 2023.
However, they strongly requested oil-producing community status, five commissionership slots, and the road from Uyo to Oron, among others.
