The All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, has said the state continues to maintain one of the highest levels of female representation in public service, reflecting the party’s commitment to inclusive governance.

The Lagos APC spokesman made the matter known in a statement issued on Sunday to commemorate International Women’s Day.

Mr Oladejo noted that successive APC-led administrations in Lagos State have deliberately created opportunities for women to occupy key positions in government and contribute meaningfully to policy formulation and governance.

In his words, “As a progressive party, the Lagos APC is proud of the deliberate policies and sustained efforts of successive APC-led administrations in Lagos State aimed at empowering women and expanding opportunities for them to thrive.

“Over the years, our government has implemented programmes and reforms designed to promote gender inclusion, protect women’s rights, and encourage their participation in governance and economic development.

“In the area of governance and leadership, Lagos has consistently maintained one of the highest levels of female representation in public service, with women serving as commissioners, permanent secretaries, legislators, special advisers, heads of key government agencies, and High Court judges.

“This reflects the party’s belief that inclusive leadership strengthens governance and policy outcomes.”

According to him, beyond these political appointments, APC administrations in Lagos have also implemented programmes aimed at empowering women financially and socially.

Economically, APC-led governments in Lagos have supported thousands of female entrepreneurs, traders, and artisans through targeted empowerment initiatives, access to microcredit schemes, capacity-building programmes, and cooperative support structures.

“Women across markets, small businesses, and creative industries have benefited from these interventions, strengthening household incomes and boosting the state’s economy,” he said.

Mr. Oladejo highlighted the state government’s social protection policies, noting that programmes aimed at protecting women from abuse, expanding access to healthcare, and promoting girl-child education remain a priority.

While commending women across Lagos and Nigeria for their resilience and contributions to nation-building, Oladejo reaffirmed the party’s commitment to women’s advancement and inclusive governance.

“On this International Women’s Day, the Lagos APC reaffirms its resolve to continue supporting policies that promote women’s participation in governance, strengthen economic opportunities for women, and ensure that every girl has the opportunity to achieve her dreams,” Mr Oladejo said.
