Let me start by commending the present Akwa Ibom government for taking a bold step in changing the known narratives of our state as a civil service state into one of the most promising state in the country, which would emerge as an industrial hub in the Gulf of Guinea.
Some years back, Akwa Ibom was never reckoned with in terms of development in physical infrastructure like good roads, airport and industries etc, but was rather seen as a pedestrian state that was only visited by people who were largely transiting to connect neighbouring states of Abia, Rivers and Cross Rivers by road. But thanks to the collective efforts of both past and present governments and some development partners who through dint of hard, sacrifice and patriotic spirit, brought the state this far.
However, as efforts are intensified to build on the visions and dreams of our forebears toward transforming the once civil service state into an economically viable state via the establishment of industries for purpose of creating job opportunities for the teeming youths and young graduates, it is advisable for government to ensure that the establishment of these industries are evenly distributed.
The present government is encouraged to spread its industrialization programme across the state for the sake of equity, justice and fair play.
