The prelate emeritus of Methodist Church, Nigeria, His Eminence (Dr.) Sunday Coffie Mbang; and the Oku Ibom Ibibio, His Eminence (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, have both expressed satisfaction with the humane disposition of Governor Udom Emmanuel in governance.

The two reputable leaders said Governor Emmanuel has demonstrated a godly character in the management of Akwa Ibom, which has gone a long way to engender peace, security and unity, thus making the state comfortable to live contrary to what prevailed in recent past.

Coming under the aegis of a pre-birthday visit to the prelate emeritus by the Oku Ibibio, who is the chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs and paramount ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government, both leaders rubbed minds on the state of affairs in Akwa Ibom, expressing happiness that the state is blessed with such a leader at this time in our history.

Ntenyin Etuk said, “Governor Udom Emmanuel has done marvellously well, and we will continue to work together to promote and support his regime till his time in office is done. I only plead that he should not turn his back on us when he leaves office, he should still treasure this state and her people dearly.

“Also, he could offer support to the one who will succeed him with words of advice on how to handle the affairs of the state as it concerns the people. I am truly grateful to Deacon Udom Emmanuel.”

Speaking on Covid-19, the royal father commended Governor Emmanuel for his pragmatic management of the pandemic in the state, particularly on the establishment of the world-acclaimed Infectious Disease Centre at Ituk Mbang, Uruan, explaining that he was aware of persons who could have died of the novel disease if not for the centre and the rapid response rate of the state’s Covid-19 management committee.

“So I want all of us to thank our amiable governor for everything he’s doing in the state in terms of infrastructure and industrialisation. He has tried. I have not stopped in encouraging the youth around me to follow in his footsteps”, the royal father said.

In his comment, Dr Sunday Mbang said “Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel is so transparent when it comes to the things of God. He’s not one to play hanky-panky. I strongly believe God brought Udom to this state, for this state, and I hope that now that he’s come to break the ice, to set the standard, we wouldn’t wish to return to previous leadership styles.

“This is a man who has come to know his people, he knows what he wants to achieve and he’s working so hard to put Akwa Ibom State on the international map. He does this through guidance from the word of God.

“All our prayers now is for God to favour us and send us a worthy successor to lead this state in 2023.”

According to the worldwide celebrated cleric and former president of World Methodist Council, “Governor Emmanuel’s Christianity is spectacular and I bless God for that. In Akwa Ibom of today, people can sleep with their eyes closed. Some people came to me in Lagos and told me that they drive around this state in the middle of the night from one place to another without any issue. I told them yes, that Akwa Ibom is a different place, unlike Lagos. I’m so happy honestly.”
