The body says enabling separate ministries against the present arrangement, will enhance better performances.

The state chairman of Nigeria Good Governance Group (NGGG), Comrade Anietie Ekpenyong stated while fielding questions from newsmen in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, recently.

Comrade Ekpeyong while commending Governor Udom Emmanuel for selecting sound professionals in his recent nominations, stressed the need to carve out Ministry of Agriculture from the Ministry of Women Affairs.

This he noted will give the commissioner time to concentrate on the affairs of ministry as well as encourage young farmers to bubble up in their farm produce and services.

He acknowledged the piority the governor has placed towards encouraging agriculture in the state, especially to offer young people the privilege to serve as farmers.

“Since the Executive Council will soon be rejigged with more competent hands, there is need for the government to separate ministry of Agriculture from Women Affairs Ministry to allow the two ministries to work effectively for the development of the state,” he said.

Ekpeyong, while pouring encomiums on Governor Emmanuel for his accountability and leadership prowess, commended him for finding the youthful class, worthy and responsible enough, to take up challenging leadership roles in the State Executive Council.

He equally thanked Governor Emmanuel for following the ethics of good governance and establishing social structures that reinforce democratic values, protecting a liberal democratic order that is devoid of ethnic bigotry and sectionalism.

According to him, the increase in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the state as witnessed recently, shows great indices of economic growth and development through innovative partnerships with private and external investors via Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

He noted that this has aided the industrial and agricultural revolution currently taking place in the state, with a conscious effort by the Udom’s led administration to achieve the sustainable development goals within the shortest possible time frame.
