The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Prince Anthony Nyong, has hailed the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for initiating the Women Sensitisation Tour on Civic Responsibilities, describing the programme as a timely intervention that has deepened political awareness and strengthened grassroots mobilisation among women in the state.
Prince Nyong gave the commendation on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Otuekong Raphael Bassey Unity Hall, Odot, where the sensitisation tour recorded a massive turnout of women from across the local government.
In his welcome address, the Chairman expressed profound appreciation to the Governor for choosing Nsit Atai as one of the beneficiaries of the exercise.

“This sensitisation programme is not only timely but impactful. It has further reinforced our commitment to women’s inclusion, political participation and community-based enlightenment. We are grateful to His Excellency for this show of love to the women of Nsit Atai,” he said.
He noted that the overwhelming attendance and high level of organisation at the event were clear reflections of the unity and peace being experienced in the local government.

Prince Nyong reaffirmed that his administration has put structures in place across the wards to ensure that all eligible women obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), assuring the state government that Nsit Atai will remain a stronghold of support for the ARISE Agenda.

“Our grassroots mobilisation strategy is deliberate and people-driven. Nsit Atai will continue to key into the ARISE Agenda and deliver on every programme that promotes the welfare of our people,” the Chairman added.
Representing the Governor, the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Sen. Akon Eyakenyi, PhD, reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to the welfare, empowerment and political inclusion of women.
“We are here to interact directly with you, listen to your needs and take your message back to the Governor for appropriate action. The ARISE administration remains committed to ensuring that women are not left behind in governance and development,” she stated.

She urged the women to take voter education and PVC registration seriously and announced plans to facilitate the registration of National Identification Numbers (NIN) for those yet to obtain theirs to ensure proper documentation.
In her address, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Akwa Ibom State, Noble Lady Helen Eno Obareki, applauded the consistent support and loyalty of Nsit Atai women to the present administration. She also commended the wife of the Chairman, Mrs Emem Nyong, for her role in uniting the women, noting that she was impressed by the level of mobilisation.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Inibehe Silas Etukudo, disclosed that empowerment programmes were underway for women in Nsit Atai and emphasised the need for only eligible persons to participate in the PVC exercise.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Cooperatives, Mrs Alice Ekpenyong, encouraged the women to embrace the ARISE cooperative societies as a platform for economic growth and self-reliance.
The APC Chapter Woman Leader in Nsit Atai, Obongawan Grace Mfon Sunday, pledged the unflinching loyalty and continued support of the women to Governor Umo Eno while appealing for greater inclusion of local women in decision-making processes to further strengthen grassroots participation and development.
Goodwill messages were delivered by the Member representing Nsit Atai Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset, the Member representing Nsit Atai in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Aniefiok Attah, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Emem Ibanga, and Obongunwana Elder Iniobong Obot. They all commended the Governor for his proactive leadership and described the sensitisation tour as a clear demonstration of purposeful grassroots governance.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the wife of the Executive Chairman, Mrs Emem Nyong, expressed appreciation to the Governor, the Deputy Governor and the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady for the love shown to Nsit Atai women, assuring that they would continue to support the people-oriented programmes of the administration and remain faithful to the ARISE with Renewed Hope Initiative.
The highlight of the event was a free medical outreach for the women of the area.
