The Executive Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Anthony Nyong, has congratulated members of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on the successful completion of their orientation course, commending them for their discipline, cooperation and good conduct throughout the exercise.
Hon. Nyong gave the commendation at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikot Itie Udung, Nsit Atai Local Government Area, during the recent closing ceremony of the orientation course.
The Chairman, who attended the ceremony, expressed delight at the successful completion of the exercise and urged the corps members to sustain the discipline, teamwork, sense of responsibility and spirit of service they demonstrated throughout the orientation period as they proceed to their various places of primary assignment.
He encouraged them to regard their service year as an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the development of their host communities, while respecting the cultures and traditions of the people and maintaining peaceful relationships wherever they are posted.
Hon. Nyong also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for his dedication to the development and welfare of the State’s youths.
He commended the Governor’s continued support for programmes and initiatives aimed at empowering young people and creating opportunities for them to contribute meaningfully to the development of Akwa Ibom State.
According to the Chairman, the NYSC scheme remains an important platform for promoting national unity, patriotism, discipline and community development.
He expressed confidence that the corps members would positively impact their host communities during their service year.
In a goodwill message delivered on his behalf by the Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr.) Akon Eyakenyi, Governor Eno charged the corps members to serve as agents of positive change in their host communities and places of primary assignment.
The Governor urged them to uphold the commendable legacies left by their predecessors across various sectors of the State and surpass those records through ethical conduct, selfless service and commitment to nation-building.
He described the orientation course as a vital component of the NYSC scheme, designed to instil leadership qualities, discipline and a sense of responsibility among young graduates.
Governor Eno urged the corps members to play active roles in promoting civic responsibility, peaceful coexistence and the collective pursuit of a just, united and prosperous society.
He also reassured them of the peaceful and hospitable nature of Akwa Ibom State, encouraging them to relate freely with their host communities, respect their socio-cultural values and build lasting relationships that could extend beyond their service year.
The Governor cautioned the corps members against actions that could bring disrepute to the nation or jeopardise their safety. He advised them to avoid night travel and directed that any journey extending beyond 6:00pm should terminate at a corps lodge, police station or military barracks.
He further advised them to board vehicles only at designated motor parks, share their travel plans with family members and utilise the emergency contact numbers provided in the security tips.
Governor Eno noted that, in addition to the Federal Government allowance, the Akwa Ibom State Government provides further support to corps members in recognition of their contributions to the implementation of the ARISE Agenda, particularly in the areas of education, health and community development.
He congratulated the corps members on the successful completion of their orientation course and expressed delight that the exercise was concluded without any casualty.
The highpoint of the ceremony was the inspection of a parade mounted in honour of the Governor by the newly deployed corps members.
The ceremony was attended by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr Ekerete Ekanem; Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong; Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Umoh; Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Princess Emem Ibanga; Special Adviser on Cooperative and Rural Development, Rt. Hon. Alice Ekpenyong; State Coordinator, NYSC, Mrs Rosemary Ngozi Akuagbaogu; representatives of service commanders, among others.
