Obi of Onitsha, C’River Rulers, Ors Hail Oku Ibom Ibibio On Emergence As Chairman, AKS Council Of Chiefs

Leading traditional rulers and socio-cultural organizations have reacted to the appointment of His Eminence, Nteyin Solomon Daniel Etuk, the Oku Ibom Ibibio and Patriarch of Ibibio People worldwide as the new chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs.
Nteyin Etuk, who is also the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Council and President General of the Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers was sworn in as the 30th Chairman of the Council of Chiefs on Monday, September 23, 2019 by Akwa Ibom Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
The Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty, Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, on behalf of the Onitsha Traditional Council, Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council, and South East Council of Traditional Rulers, in a goodwill message, congratulated Nteyin Etuk on his appointment as the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom Council of Chiefs.
The Obi said, “I look forward to continuing brotherly partnership with Nteyin Etuk in re-inventing and re-positioning the traditional institution in the service of our people and the nation.”
In his goodwill message on behalf of the Cross River State Traditional Rulers’ Council, the Chairman, HRM Etinyin (Dr.) Etim Okon Edet, congratulated the monarch on “your well-deserved appointment as Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs.
Etinyin Edet, who is also the Paramount Ruler of Bakassi, said the council is “very confident that with your track record of uncompromising commitment to humanity, you shall bring real change to bear in the Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs and bring the needed cooperation between Akwa Ibom and Cross River and nib in the bud the incessant communal hostilities between the two sister states.”
In their goodwill message, the assembly of all traditional rulers of Ibibio land under the royal canopy of Ifim Ibom Ibibio, otherwise known as, the Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers, said it received with great joy and satisfaction the recent appointment and swearing in of the Patriarch of Ibibio People Worldwide and Oku Ibom Ibibio, His Eminence, Nteyin Solomon D. Etuk as the 30th Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs.
The statement signed on behalf of the group by five paramount rulers, namely HRM Okuku (Dr) Ime Udousoro Inyang – Ibiono Ibom LGA; HRM Edidem Udo Joe Ntuk Obom – Ikot Abasi LGA; HRM Edidem Nyong U. Obop – Ikono LGA; HRM Edidem E. C. D. Abia – Eket LGA; and HRM Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang – Onna LGA; said the “elevation gladdens our hearts as His Eminence, Nteyin Solomon D. Etuk, President-General of the Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers, is eminently qualified for the office of the Chairman of Council of Chiefs based on his capacity, fatherly disposition, sound educational background and experience as an administrator.”
“Ifim Ibom Ibibio knows that our Patriarch will certainly bring forth his wealth of experience to enhance the activities of the Council of Chiefs as well as the general development of Akwa Ibom State,” the body said.
Also, the Oron Union expressed happiness over the development and tasked the Oku Ibom Ibibio to uphold justice and fairness.
In a goodwill message, the President-General Oron Union, Chief (Mrs.) Janet Amba extolled the continuous successful strides of the Oku Ibom Ibibio as the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.
“Your Eminence, we appreciate your fatherly disposition and ask that you use your new position to promote justice, fairness and equity in all ramifications, especially on the rights of the people in our respective communities”.
The union also prayed God’s grace and wisdom upon the monarch in other to execute the responsibilities demanded of the exalted office of the Chairman of Council of Chiefs.
A leading think tank in Nigeria, Ibom Patriots in felicitating with the revered royal father, expressed hope that “With his vast leadership acumen as the President – General of Ifim Ibom Ibibio and in other private and public endeavours, it is certain that His Eminence, Nteyin Solomon Etuk, JP will impact enormously on the Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs.”
The statement signed by the Chancellor, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen and Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Barr. Usenobong Akpabio, said “Ibom Patriots therefore look forward to a fruitful two – year tenure where the unique role of our royal fathers will be greatly felt in the maintenance of peace, unity and order in the society as they are the custodians of the customs and traditions of the people.”
The Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, a foremost socio-cultural group, while rejoicing with the Patriarch, said that “With his leadership as the President General of Ifim Ibom Ibibio, it is certain that His Eminence will impact his fatherly wisdom on Traditional Rulers in Akwa Ibom State.
In their congratulatory message, signed by Ntisong (Dr.) Essien Ekidem, Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio looked “forward to a fruitful two-year tenure where your fatherly role will be greatly felt in the maintenance of peace, promotion of our culture and unity among all the ethnic groups in Akwa Ibom State.”
Also, the Commissioner for Works, Akwa Ibom State, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang-eyen, in his felicitations said that “Time and circumstance has again proved that you are a divinely ordained leader.”
Inyang-eyen noted that as the Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium LGA, Oku Ibom Ibibio, Patriarch of Ibibio People Worldwide and President General of Ifim Ibom Ibibio, the monarch has distinguished himself in leadership and character.
“Your elevation to the prestigious position of Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs is therefore well merited as you have enormous capacity to lift the Council of Chiefs to higher heights during your two-year tenure – 2019/2021,” the Commissioner stated.
A foremost group, Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, said the appointment is well-deserved based on his proven leadership qualities and exquisite charisma.
The International President, Akparawa (Obong) Patrick Udofia and International Secretary General, Akparawa Fiokidaha Umoh, who endorsed the statement, felicitated with His Eminence, Nteyin Solomon Etuk, on his appointment as the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs.
Mboho said “As the Patriarch of Ibibio Land and President-General of the Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers, we your subjects are indeed very happy to identify and share with you in this auspicious moment. We have no doubt that you will bring to bear your wealth of experience and impact positively on the traditional institution in Akwa Ibom State.”
Nsit Ubium Local Government Council, where the monarch hails from, also congratulated him for the appointment and described the elevation as well deserved.
Hon. (Elder) Udemeobong Bassey, the Executive Chairman, Nsit Ubium Local Government Council, who signed the congratulatory message, said “On this auspicious celebrations as the 30th Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs, on behalf of the good people of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, I join friends, associates and other well-wishers to felicitate you, His Eminence, Nteyin Solomon Etuk, The Paramount Ruler Of Nsit Ubium LGA, Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of Ifim Ibom Ibibio, on your epochal and memorable swearing in.”
The council further stated “Your undebatable landmarks recorded overtime which positively helped in turning our State Traditional institution’s fortune is notable.”
