Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, CFR, has applauded Governor Umo Eno for the successful maiden international flight at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo.
Ntenyin Etuk stated that Governor Eno has performed exceptionally well in establishing the international status of the airport through infrastructural upgrades, provision of essential facilities, and the sustainability of Ibom Air.
He also praised the Governor for the newly completed Smart Terminal Building at Victor Attah International Airport, a facility widely regarded by aviation experts as one of the most technologically advanced airport terminals in Nigeria.
The Patriarch of the Ibibios worldwide, speaking at Victor Attah International Airport after the return flight from Ghana to Uyo on Sunday, said the inauguration of international operations at the airport was a dream realised for the state.
He commended Obong Victor Attah, who initiated the airport project; Chief Godswill Akpabio, who followed up on the initiative and ensured the commencement of flight operations; and Mr Udom Emmanuel, who advanced the development of the airport and inaugurated the state-owned Ibom Air.

The monarch noted that former governors provided impactful leadership and each contributed to the development of the airport.
He said, “I am therefore very happy with Governor Umo Eno, PhD, for his utmost commitment towards completing the airport project and realising its international status, as demonstrated by this inaugural international flight to Accra, Ghana.”
“When I looked at the facade, I found it wonderful, very impressive. The exterior, interior, and finishing are perfect; this is very beautiful. It can compete with facilities elsewhere in the world.
We are grateful to God that we have a Governor with a taste for something good and unique. I am so excited about this achievement. As His Excellency told me, he has fulfilled his promise.”
“When I tell the world how proud I am of Governor Umo Eno’s performance, it may be perceived as bias because he is my son. But when we all consider his achievements in three years, they are marvellous. By the time he completes his fourth year and possibly another term of four years, the record will be even louder,” he added.
Oku Ibom Ibibio also stated that Victor Attah International Airport, as a world-class transit hub, will greatly promote tourism, attract visitors from all over the globe, and thereby boost businesses in Akwa Ibom State.
