Oku Ibom Ibibio Tasks Socio-Cultural Groups To Support Gov Emmanuel’s Completion Agenda
…Calls For Effective Collaboration On Peace, Unity And Development
The Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General, Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk has enjoined socio-cultural organisations in Akwa Ibom State to give Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration effective support in its completion agenda.
The patriarch of the Ibibios, who is also the chairman of the State Council of Chiefs, stated this when the Interim Management Committee of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, led by its chairman, Rt. (Hon.) Mkpisong Cyril Ekiko paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Ikot Ukobo, Nsit Ubium Local government Area recently.
The premier royal father emphasized that socio-cultural groups in Akwa Ibom State must place the interests of the State above any other consideration by working collectively to ensure the prevalence of peace, unity and development of the entire state.
He expressed delight that Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio has since existence over four decades, have been concerned in promoting unity, peaceful co-existence, and development of the Ibibio people, both at home and in the Diaspora and urged the members to do more.

Ntenyin Etuk said one of the cardinal objectives for the formation of the socio-cultural organisation was for the body to serve as a catalyst and veritable platform in driving togetherness among the Ibibios and others in the state, towards achieving desirable development in all spheres.
“As a leader, I am concerned in bringing Ibibios and other groupings together for the collective interest of peace, unity, development and mutual coexistence in the state and beyond.
“I therefore urge you to toe the path of peace and unity and desist from any act capable of causing disunity and lack of progress.
“We have to close ranks with Governor Udom Emmanuel’s led administration on his completion agenda and peaceful succession to attain a long term benefit and growth, rather than dwell on momentary issues,” he stated.
The Oku Ibom Ibibio, who was flanked by members of the Supreme Council of Ibibio Traditional Rulers (Ifim Ibom Ibibio), thanked the chairman and members of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio for their visit and assured them of his support in repositioning the organisation to fully achieve its lofty goals and aspirations.

The premier royal father urged the IMC to be fair and just in the election of new Ntisong of Akwa Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio and commended the immediate past leader of the group, Ntisong (Engr.) Essien Udo Ekidem for his services over the years.
“I am happy to receive members of the Interim Management Committee of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio chaired by Rt. (Hon.) Mkpisong Cyril Ekiko. I am also delighted over the commitments you have expressed towards giving Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio a new lease of life.
“We all desire to see Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio function as was conceived at its inauguration about four decades ago. The cardinal aims and objectives were unity, peace and development in Ibibio land, as well as others in Akwa Ibom State in general.
“I urge the leadership to remain focussed on those lofty dreams and avoid unnecessary distractions be it political or leadership squabbles. While you seek to ensure fairness in the election of a new leader; give attention to the capacity of the individual and how patriotic he is to the group’s interests and aspiration,” Ntenyin Etuk stated.
Earlier in address, the chairman of the Interim Management Committee of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, Rt. (Hon.) Mkpisong Cyril Ekiko said the visit was to formally brief the premier royal father on the state of affairs in the apex socio-cultural body.

“The mandate reposed on me and my committee members by the highest decision making body of this organisation, the Mkpisong Council, is to see through the successful transition of leadership from Ntisong III to that of Ntisong IV within three months.
“We have had successful transitions in the leadership of our organisation through that of Ntisong 1, 2, 3 and we hope to have the fourth in no distance time from now. I thank you, our eminent royal and all the paramount rulers of Ibibios present here today. We will do our best to keep the organisation on track,” he added.
