Oku Ibom’s Award: A worthy feather on the Royal Cap – Bassey Inuaeyen
The selection of the Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk for the conferment of the national honour of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) has been described as a worthy feather on his royal cap.
An elder statesman and chancellor of Ibom Patriots, a leading socio-cultural and political organisation, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen, stated this in a goodwill message to the monarch.
Obong Inuaeyen noted that the Oku Ibom Ibibio has over the years served the Ibibio land, Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria as a whole in various capacities, very diligently and therefore deserves to be honoured.
“Your selection for the conferment of national honour in the rank of the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) reverberates with immense joy across the length and breadth of Ibibio Land, Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
“The reason is obvious. You have been a worthy king and servant leader – a light bearer for the traditional institution in Akwa Ibom State and beyond. Without equivocation, your reign as the Oku Ibom Ibibio and Patriarch of the Ibibios – the fourth largest tribe in Nigeria, nay the President General of Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council have witnessed impactful and transformational imprints.

“In addition, your guardianship as the Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University has created a silver lining for the institution,” he stated.
The elder statesman congratulated him on behalf of his family, Ini Local Government Area and the entire people of Ntippe Ibibio for the award of the commander of the Federal Republic (CFR).
He said, “As you step out to be decorated by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, in Abuja, we say hearty felicitations for an honour well deserved.
“In the light of this, my family, Ini Local Government Area and the entire people of Ntippe Ibibio rejoice with you and wish you long life on the throne and more fruitful service to the State and Nation.”
