President Buhari Hosts Oku Ibom Ibibio, Others On Ramadam Iftar In Abuja
The Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk and some eminent traditional rulers were guests of President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, for a Ramadan Iftar in Abuja.
The Oku Ibom Ibibio, who is also the Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University, participated in the Ramadan Iftar with President Buhari at the Presidential Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja, on Thursday, April 21, 2022
The patriarch of the Ibibios is a key member of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) and the Zonal Coordinator of the National Development Mega-Summit of Traditional Rulers in charge of South-South.
Speaking shortly after the Ramadan Iftar, the Oku Ibom Ibibio urged Nigerians to live in peace with one another and respect individuals’ rights to any religious affiliation.
“We as leaders must preach peace, unity and tolerance amongst our people and subjects. Nigeria is heterogeneous. Though tongue may differ, in brotherhood, we stand.
“I came here to honour His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation and by extension, the Muslim Ummah on this significant religious exercise of breaking of fast,” the monarch added.

The Premier Royal Father in Akwa Ibom, expressed delight with President Buhari for his good disposition towards traditional rulers in the country, adding that the meeting allowed them to hear his concerns about the country’s unity, peace and development.
“It was quite a worthwhile interface. There are leadership lessons to be learnt from the Ramadan Iftar held by President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. We, as traditional rulers, deeply cherish his goodwill towards us and the nation,” Oku Ibom Ibibio added.
The letter of invitation to the Oku Ibom Ibibio for the Ramadan Iftar was conveyed by His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar, CFR, Etsu Nupe, who is the Chairman, Coordinating Committee.

“I have the pleasure to inform you that His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation, is inviting His Eminence to Ramadan Iftar with him at Presidential Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja,” it was stated in the invitation letter, dated April 15, 2022.
