The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced comprehensive security and traffic control measures ahead of the official visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to Akwa Ibom State on Friday, November 6, 2026.
Addressing journalists at a press briefing at the Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, said the measures are to ensure a peaceful, orderly and hitch-free visit and to guarantee the smooth movement of the Presidential convoy.
CP Azare said the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has put in place robust security arrangements across the State.
As part of the measures, the Police announced a total restriction on the operation and flying of drones within Uyo metropolis throughout the period of the Presidential visit.
The Commissioner explained that the restriction is a proactive measure to safeguard restricted airspace, protect critical locations and prevent any potential security breach.

Members of the public, drone operators and service providers were advised to strictly comply with the directive.
The Command also banned the use of fireworks, knockouts and other explosive sound-producing devices within the State capital during the visit.
According to the CP, the ban is to prevent unnecessary panic, eliminate avoidable security distractions and enable security personnel to respond effectively to any genuine security concern.
To ensure seamless movement of the Presidential convoy, the Police announced temporary restrictions on public access to designated routes and strategic locations within Uyo metropolis.
They are Airport Road, Shelter Afrique Junction, Oron Road, Nung Oku Junction, Mbierebe Junction, and Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
Members of the public were advised to avoid the affected routes and use alternative routes. Motorists were urged to plan their journeys ahead, exercise patience and cooperate with traffic and security personnel deployed along the corridors.
CP Azare appealed to residents to understand that the temporary restrictions are necessary security arrangements and not intended to inflict hardship, assuring that they are in the overall interest of public safety.
He said the Command is working closely with other security agencies and stakeholders to ensure effective coordination, intelligence sharing, traffic management and adequate deployment across strategic locations.
While regretting any inconvenience the restrictions may cause, the Command solicited the understanding, patience and cooperation of residents, stressing that public safety remains paramount.
Residents were urged to remain law-abiding, avoid restricted areas, comply with lawful directives from security personnel and promptly report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station or through police emergency channels.
The Command wished President Tinubu a peaceful and successful visit to Akwa Ibom State.
The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, for the Commissioner of Police.
