Royal Tour: Offot Ukwa Clan Bubble For Paramount Ruler Of Uyo
An air of excitement has swept across the 22 villages of Offot Ukwa Clan in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State as the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon is set to undertake royal visitations to the communities.
The royal tour to the 22 gazetted villages, which situate in the heart of the capital city of Akwa Ibom, begins on Friday, August 26, 2022 and ends on Friday, October 07, 2022.
The Offot Ukwa Clan often referred to as the landlord, hosts major Government Offices and infrastructures. These include Government House otherwise known as Hilltop Mansion; Governor’s Office; Governor’s Office Annex; Police Area Command/ ‘A’ Division; Uyo Correctional Centre; Uyo Local Government Secretariat, Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council Chambers, Anchor Insurance Coy and others, along the entire stretch of Wellington Bassey Way to Ibom Plaza and beyond.
Similarly, Federal Housing/Banking Area on Olusegun Obasanjo Way, Idongesit Nkanga State Secretariat, Federal Secretariat, Ewet Housing Estate, Unity Park/Ibibio Museum, Ibom Hall, Akpan Andem Market, St. Luke’s Hospital, Anua, Government Farms – Use Offot, University of Uyo (main campus) and UUTH, Champion Breweries, State Secretariat of PDP, NLC, NUJ, Pioneer Newspapers, a greater portion of land accommodating Godswill Akpabio International Stadium and many other public and private establishments are on Offot Ukwa land.
The tour by the paramount ruler, who doubles as the clan head of Offot Ukwa, the biggest among the four clans in Uyo Local Government Area, forms part of the activities lined up for the celebration of Offot Ukwa Festival of Arts and Culture, 2022.

A schedule on the tour indicates that the paramount ruler will be accompanied on the royal visits by the chairman and members of the Offot Ukwa Clan Council of Chiefs as well as the chairman and members of the Central Planning Committee (CPC) of Offot Ukwa Festival of Arts and Culture, 2022.
A press release on the tour signed by the chairman of the festival committee, Elder Patrick Albert and Secretary, Mrs Nkereuwem Bassey states that the Paramount ruler and his entourage will commence the visit on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Nsukara Offot by 10 am and Use Offot by 1 pm.

Use Atai Offot and Ibiaku Offot follow on Monday, August 29, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively, while Ikot Anyang Offot and Ikot Ntuen Offot are on Friday, September 02, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively.
Ikot Oko Idio Offot and Ekpri Nsukara Offot hold on Monday, September 05, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively.
Ewet Offot and Uyo Offot come up on Monday, September 12, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively, while Aka Offot and Iboko Offot are on Friday, September 16, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm.
Efiat Offot and Atan Offot are on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 10 am and 1 pm while Afaha Offot and Ikot Okubo Offot hold on Monday, September 26, 2022:10am and 1 pm respectively.
Obio Offot and Use Ikot Ebio Offot are on Friday, September 30, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively while Anua Obio Offot and Ikot Ekpe Offot will take place on Monday, October 03, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively.
Anua Offot and Eniong Offot hold on Friday, October 07, 2022, by 10 am and 1 pm respectively.
Already, the activities towards the forthcoming Offot Ukwa Festival kick-started with the unveiling of the logo for the carnival held on Saturday, August 06, 2022, at the Ibom Plaza, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
