Sen Ekong Sampson Releases N5m To Okobo Development Union To Support Education

Senator Ekong Sampson, member representing Akwa Ibom South in the Senate, has released ₦5 million to the Okobo Development Union in fulfilment of a pledge he made earlier to support education in the community.
The senator, who made the donation on Saturday, commended the union for its commitment to promoting education, noting that education remains a top priority in his interventions.
The lawmaker also highlighted his efforts towards the construction of sports facilities, computer-based training (CBT) centres, science laboratories, provision of education grants, alongside other amenities in some secondary schools across the senatorial district.
Responding, the national president of the Okobo Development Union, Chief Edward Walter, appreciated Senator Ekong Sampson for fulfilling his pledge and supporting the union’s efforts to promote education.
The meeting was attended by the organising secretary of the union, Hon. Immaculata Andem; former member representing Okobo State Constituency, Hon. Efefiong Antigha; and a stakeholder of the union, Hon. Ini Ikott; chairman of the Senator Ekong Sampson Empowerment Committee, Engr. Ben Edenseting, secretary of the committee, among others.

Meanwhile as Senator Ekong Sampson marked his 60th birthday on Monday, September 21, 2026, eminent dignitaries and institutions, including the Senate president, Senator Godswill Akpabio; and Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, governor of Akwa Ibom State, have extended warm felicitations to him.
In a message to Sampson, Senator Akpabio, who described the celebrant as a ‘Distinguished brother’, said: “As you navigate through the murky waters of politics, particularly your committee’s efforts in the Senate to improve the Solid Minerals sector as a major revenue earner for the nation, we wish you more successes and God’s protection in the years ahead.”
On his part, the Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, in his felicitation, through his chief press secretary, Mr Ekerete Udoh, joined the family, constituents, friends and well-wishers of Senator Sampson in celebrating the milestone.
“As you mark the significant milestone of your 60th birthday, I join your family, constituents, friends and well-wishers in celebrating with you.
“Over the years, you have had the opportunity to serve our people in different capacities at the state level and now in the National Assembly as the senator representing Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District.
