The chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) and Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan has commended women for their significant roles in the growth of churches as well as humanitarian services.
Senator Albert popularly known as OBA, speaking at the 50th Anniversary of the National Women Fellowship of the Lutheran Church, Nigeria, Obot Idim in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State on Sunday, said women are always outstanding in evangelism as well as contributing towards the infrastructural development of churches.
The senator, who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Imaobong-Nkeiru Bassey Albert as special guests at the Golden Jubilee Anniversary, applauded the National Women Fellowship of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria for her outstanding achievements in the church over the years.

“At 50 years of existence, you have come a long way together in building the church. In evangelism, infrastructural development and humanitarian services, you have made incredible impacts. On behalf of my wife, Imaobong-Nkeiru Bassey Albert and family, I congratulate you and wish you greater successes ahead,” he said.
Senator Albert, who is also the leader of Akwa Ibom Caucus in the National Assembly, also charged women to continue in imbibing the spirit of Christ in building sustainable homes that will advance the development of the society.
The Golden Jubilee held at the National Headquarters of the Church, Obot Idim Ibesikpo, drew participants within and outside the State.
