Senator Albert Tasks Christians on Societal Growth

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Obong Bassey Albert Akpan has reiterated that the growth of any society is dependent on the enthusiasm of its people to deploy their inert human and natural endowment towards development.

According to Senator Albert, who represents Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, the Almighty God has blessed every society with talented men and women as well as endowed the environment with abundance of natural resources which can be harnessed to advance the society.

Obong Albert, popularly called OBA, who is the Leader, Akwa Ibom State Caucus of the National Assembly, made the assertion during a reception service organized in honour of Reverend and Deaconess Udo Billy Akpan by the Eket Conference of the United Evangelical Church, Sunday, June 27, 2021.

Albert, who was a keynote speaker at the event, said the societies are in need of ideas that would engender growth and general advancement of the people and the communities, and called for concerted efforts to realise it.

The federal legislator, an economist and one-time commissioner for finance in Akwa Ibom State, cited the Church as a pertinent institution which could set agenda for such narratives and character moulding for the people.

He charged Christians to partake fully in politics, to enable them play active roles in policy formulation and strategic planning in order to achieve the desirable societal growth.

In his response, Rev. Akpan, who is the chairman of the United Evangelical Church, Eket Conference, said he was overwhelmed by what God passed through participants at the event to do for his family.

The cleric prayed God to sustain Akwa Ibom and Nigeria in the face of numerous challenges plaguing the nation.
