It was celebration galore at Methodist Church of Nigeria, Afaha Ekpenedi in Esit Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State on Sunday as Sir Barr Bassey Dan-Abia, a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), commemorated the 40th year of his call to Nigerian Bar.
The commemorative thanksgiving service held on Sunday, December 26, 2021at Methodist Church of Nigeria, Afaha Ekpenedi, Esit Eket Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, saw friends and associates join the celebrant in offering thanks to God for the feat.
Individuals and professional bodies waxed loftily about Sir Dan-Abia, prayed and wished him more years of an impactful life.
Students were not left out. Under the aegis of National Association of Esit Eket Students, University of Uyo Chapter, they bestowed on him the award, Ette Uwam Ndito Ufok Nwed (Fatherly Helper of Students) Award.
Eulogizing the celebrant, the association’s president, Comrade Blessed Bassey, said the recognition was borne out of Dan-Abia’s benevolence to students for several decades running.

He acknowledged the celebrant’s goodwill to the association and declared they felt proud and elated to identify with him.
Speaking further, the NAEES Chapter President hailed him for serving and leaving behind immaculate records in the NDDC, Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Justice, Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Transport and other quarters.
A giant portrait and award plaque were presented to him.
The thanksgiving service was attended by the church faithful, family members, legal practitioners, the political class and people from other professional fields.
The service was tagged ‘The Almighty God’ drawn from the Biblical passage, Luke 1:49.
It was presided over by the Circuit Presbyter, The Very Reverend Elijah Ekanem Udo.
