Team Delta Enters Camp For Edo 2020 National Sports Festival Defence

By Vincent Anikwushe

The Delta State Team for the 20th National Sports Festival “Edo 2020” has entered camp in preparation for the defence of the title won in the “Abuja 2018 Unity Games”.

The Team Delta as they are commonly identified, have athletes in all the team games as well as other athletic events in both track and field events through which they hope to outrun other competitors to retain the title.

Many other states are equally prepared to upset the champion as being observed across the federation but the Chief Tonobok Okowa-led team would not easily lose their glory to any other team on a platter of gold. Rather, it will not be an easy task for the needle to pass through the eyes of the camel.
Team Delta entering the camp simply signals to other competitors that the road through the dessert can be hazardous and only those who can persevere will make it.

The camps, Crystal Express gathered, are widely dispersed for different events and each event is expected to do trials for their athletes and select the best for presentation.

At the present situation, the state is banking on the entire events for maximum points without particularizing events as catchment sports as that would be inimical to the overall interest of a victory-bound team as virtually all events are very much open to any state that has competent athletes.

The camp will last for about two weeks and this will enable the officials select their best representatives in all events so that the purpose would be achieved with less frictions.
