The Reliable God! – Psalm 121:1-8

By Senator Bassey Albert

The dependable, the reliable, the covenant keeping, the unchangeable – that is our God. By his mighty hand, he has kept us and heralded us into the month of March and as faithful, we rise to offer him praises and shout Halleluyah! (Revelation 19: 6; Psalm 113:1-9; Psalm 147:1 and Psalm 149:1).

Constantly, our eyes are upon the hills, from where our help comes. God as the maker of heaven and earth, is our unfailing refuge and strength. He ensures our safety and wellbeing as he neither sleeps nor slumbers (Psalm 46:1-3; Psalm 121:1-8, Deuteronomy 33:27 and Psalm 91:2).

As we enter the third month of the year, 2021, the ever reliable God will grant us rebirth in all areas of our lives. We are not tied to man’s ordinances, but God’s (Proverbs 19:21).

The scripture says in Psalm 55:22: “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” And in Psalm 68:19, it states, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.”

This new month of March will see us attain new heights – marching firmly towards the realization of his promises. As said in Hebrews 10:23, “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.” He is a covenant keeping God (Isaiah 54:10) and he ensures that our expectations are not cut off (Proverbs 23:18). That which he promised, so shall he also fulfill (Jeremiah 29:11; 32:40).

On behalf of my wife and family, I convey my best wishes to my brother, the Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, my constituents and all Akwa Ibomites as well as friends and well-wishers within and outside the country.
