Uyo Senatorial District Leaders Forum (USDLF) Receives Certificate of Incorporation

...Gets Executive Committee with Obong Ukpong Dan Umoh as Leader

A landmark development has been recorded for the think-tank socio-cultural group for the people of the nine local government areas of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District in Akwa Ibom State.

Known as Uyo Senatorial District Leaders Forum, the group with eminent sons and daughters of the area has now been formally incorporated and recognized as a legal entity by the Federal Government through the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

A stakeholders meeting to present the certificate and elect new executives to pilot the affairs of the forum was held at Anua Street, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital on Thursday, September 1, 2022.

Accordingly, 15 eminent sons and daughters of the area were constituted into the new executive committee to marshal the dreams and aspirations of the forum, which is a non-religious, non-political and not-for-profit socio-cultural association.uyo senatorial leaders

A renowned elder statesman and an accomplished banker, Obong Ukpong Dan Umoh emerged the Leader with a former Director, Nigerian Gas company Limited – a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Obong Kingsley Peters, JP as Secretary General.

Others are Pastor Udo Okon Esset, JP – Deputy Leader 1; Hon. Abai Tony Okpon – Deputy Leader 11; Obong (Barr.) Daniel Udofia – Assistant Secretary; Engr. Anthony James – Treasurer; Otuekong Emmanuel Ekpa – Organising Secretary; Hon. (Barr.) Christine Akpan; Barr. (Hon.) Aniedi Ndem – Deputy Legal Adviser; Hon. (Mrs.) Gloria Udofia; Mrs. Cecilia Uwah – Deputy Woman Leader; Lady Babara Godwin Obot – Welfare Officer; Pastor Bassey Isin – Financial Secretary; Elder Patrick Albert – Publicity Secretary and Pastor Eric Asanausung.

At the meeting, a minute silence was observed for the former Leader of the forum, Late Obong Ekpe Atakpo, whose footsteps, the new Leader, Obong Ukpong Dan Umoh, pledged to follow judiciously in championing the interest of Uyo Senatorial District.

Administering the oath of office, a legal luminary, Barr. Andem Andem charged the Leader and members of the executive committee to be steadfast in carrying out their responsibilities.

“Today, you have been sworn in to lead and serve the people of Uyo Senatorial District. It is a responsibility that you all are expected to discharge with total commitment and sincerity to achieve the purpose of the association,” Barr. Andem charged.

In his acceptance speech, Obong Ukpong Umoh lauded all the distinguished sons and daughters of Uyo Senatorial District for the trust and confidence reposed in him and others to serve and assured that the people’s expectations will be met through building a strong and progressive body.

Obong Dan while calling for a minute of silence for the Late Obong Ekpe Atakpo, described the former Leader as someone who gave all his time and resources to promoting the interest of Uyo Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom State at large.uyo senatorial leaders

He assured that the new executive committee will work as a team to foster unity and development in the district as well as continue to champion social justice, inclusion and unity of Akwa Ibom State as a whole.

The secretary general, Obong Kingsley Peters, who presented the forum’s certificate of incorporation, thanked the members for their solidarity and cooperation, which accounted for the successful registration.

Obong Peters said with the certificate, the body has acquired a legal status which has fully authenticated the rightful leadership of the forum.

The inauguration ceremony attracted very prominent sons and daughters of the Senatorial District from different walks of life drawn from all the nine local government areas of the district namely; Uyo, Etinan, Uruan, Ibiono Ibom, Nsit Ubium, Nsit Ibom, Nsit Atai, Ibesikpo Asutan and Itu.
