Xmas Celebration: Oku Ibom Ibibio Felicitates Gov Umo Eno, A’Ibomites And All Faithful

...Urges Christians To Show Love To One Another

Christian faithful have been urged to be compassionate with fellow humans as exemplified by Jesus Christ.

The Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence Ntenyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, CFR made the plea in his Christmas message on Monday, December 25, 2023.

Urging them to extend compassion to the less privileged, especially considering the socio-economic challenges in our nation and beyond, the monarch stressed that “embracing the values of charity and genuine concern for one another can make a meaningful impact.”

The A’Ibom premier royal father espoused that Jesus Christ was a gift of compassion to humanity by God.

“Jesus Christ, as a gift from the Almighty God, came for the salvation of mankind as the Bible states, ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life’ – John 3:16.”

“Let us therefore, while celebrating the yuletide, do so with the renewing of our minds to the divine teachings of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, which centres on love, peaceful and harmonious coexistence with one another,” he added.

Ntenyin Etuk called for stronger family bonds between husbands and wives through the cultivation of genuine love, understanding, tolerance and mutual respect for one another, admonishing couples to refrain from uttering words when under provocation.

“Let us uphold the importance of love and maturity within families. In every home, let love prevail at all times between husbands and wives. They also need to raise children with the fear of God. In all, families have to embrace the practice of expressing true love to one another in every moment of life.

“This commitment to love, forgiveness, and maturity is integral to fostering harmonious and resilient families. Learn not to speak when you are angry. Well-organised families lead to a better society,” he stated.

The Oku Ibom Ibibio further implored the Christian faithful to be very supportive of leaders at all levels of authority in line with the Biblical dictates to obey constituted authorities.

Ntenyin Etuk, who is the Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University, also urged leaders to lead and govern with the fear of God, mindful of the fact that they hold such responsibility on behalf of the Almighty God.

He made a special acknowledgement of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, for their unwavering dedication to the protection of lives and property.

“Your commitment is crucial, especially in addressing challenges like kidnapping and sea piracy on our waterways,” he said.

On behalf of the Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, he sent “best wishes for a Christmas and New Year filled with joy, love, happiness and prosperity to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, his family and the entire people of Akwa Ibom State.”
