AKHA Lauds Gov Emmanuel Over 7km Awa Iman – Ukam Road

 

Determined to ensure quality job delivery by contractors, members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Transport, chaired by Rt. Hon. David Lawrence, has inspected the 7Km Awa Iman – Ukam Road project.

The 7km road project with two spurs awarded to VKS, was sometime last year inspected by the House Committee on Works and Transport which certain portions of the road were condemned and the committee ordered the contractor to carry out remedial work in order to suit standard.

This oversight carried out on Friday, March 27, 2020, according to the Committee Chairman, Hon. Lawrence, is to ensure that road projects awarded to VKS and other contractors in the state meet standard and as well determine level of compliance by VKS on failed portions of the road which the Committee had earlier observed.

Lawrence, who said he is satisfied with the level of development and compliance by VKS, noted that residents and the entire Akwa Ibom people are pleased with government’s effort and commitment to develop the State for the benefit of all.

He appreciated the community for their corporation to the company and government for a smooth working environment. The Chairman emphasized that Governor Emmanuel has given his best to ensure good and motorable road networks in the State.

Also speaking, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Rt. Hon. Nse Essien, commended Governor Emmanuel for his bold steps taken so far to ensure wider development across the State, he described the Governor as a “proactive and listening” leader.

“We are very happy to see what is happening here and I commend VKS for a job well done; that this road is already wearing a new look as “Wearing Course Overlay” is almost completed is a proof that VKS will deliver on time as promised,” Essien stated.
