Bayelsa Assembly Passes Financial Regulations Laws
The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has passed three bills to enforce financial regulations in government expenditure to law.
The House during its sitting on Wednesday, considered the Public Procurement Amendment Bill, Fiscal Responsibility Amendment Bill and the Debt Management Office Amendment Bill 2020 and subsequently passed them into law.
According to the lawmakers, the laws when assented by the governor, will effectively position the state among governments that adhere to International Public Sector Accounting Standard (IPSAS).

Speaker of the House, Mr Abraham Ngobere, commended the members for painstakingly deliberating on the bills, especially in the trying times of COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the House is committed to adding value to the lives of Bayelsa people that gave them mandate to represent them.
