Ibibio Socio-Cultural Organisations Pay Homage to Oku Ibom Ibibio

...Acclaim Him as Paragon of Unity, Peace and Development

Leaders and stakeholders of Ibibio socio-cultural organisations have extolled Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of Akwa Ibom State Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence, Ntenyin (Dr) Solomon Daniel Etuk, CFR, for his exemplary leadership and tireless efforts in promoting peace, unity, development and cultural preservation among the Ibibios and people of Akwa Ibom State as a whole.

The delegation, led by Ntisong James Pius Okon, Ntisong IV of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, stated this when they converged for a special homage to the Supreme Ruler at his palace in Ikot Ukobo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, on Monday, March 2, 2026.

The delegation comprised dignitaries and representatives of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio, Ibibio Elders Forum, Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, Ekid People’s Union, Mboho Ikot Abasi, and Mboho Ndito Nsit worldwide.

In his opening remarks, Ntisong Pius Okon intimated to the monarch that their visit was a special homage to him as the sovereign king, chief hierophant, patriarch of all Ibibio people, and final arbiter in the affairs of the Ibibio people. Accordingly, they professed their loyalty to the supreme monarch, urging him to sustain his progressive hegemony in the state.

In their speeches, Akparawa James Edet, NPOM, the 11th International President of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio; Dr Samuel Udonsak, President General of the Ekid People’s Union; Obong Sunday Philip, Chairman, Akwa Ibom Community in Adamawa State; and Mkpisong Chelly Okoko, President General of Mboho Ikot Abasi, all observed that Oku Ibom was providentially positioned for the Ibibio people and Akwa Ibom State at this exigent moment.

They lauded him for his sagacious leadership, stressing that he has galvanised the ethos of unity, peace, development and harmonious coexistence amongst the people in the state.

Others, who also extolled the Oku Ibom Ibibio, included Dr Emmanuel Akpanobong, President of Ibibio Elders Forum, Prof. Etie Ben Akpan of Mboho Ndito Nsit, and Obongawan Imo Essien, Itai Obongawan Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio. They emphasised that his reign has emblazoned the Ibibios and created more congeniality amongst the various peoples in Akwa Ibom and beyond.

Ntenyin Etuk, in his response, offered gratitude to the Almighty God for orchestrating their togetherness and drive for unity, peace and progress. He emphatically urged them to redouble efforts in fostering togetherness and harmonious coexistence, stressing that through collective action, they will achieve more in strengthening the existing bonds amongst communities and the people.

Oku Ibom Ibibio further implored the leaders to demonstrate heightened commitment and resolve in addressing the developmental challenges confronting the Ibibio Nation and Akwa Ibom State at large.

He also expressed sincere appreciation for their commendable initiatives in fostering unity and collaboration geared towards promoting the collective well-being and advancement of the people.

Oku Ibom Ibibio used the occasion to make a clarion call on Ibibios worldwide to show interest in their affairs and be proud of their common ancestry by professing love for one another, respecting constituted authority and also championing the cause of unity, wellbeing and progress of all and the state.

“At this dawn, I also want to send out a passionate appeal to all sons and daughters of Ibibio land and Akwa Ibomites in general, wherever they may reside, to be interested in their affairs, love one another, respect leaders, and contribute to their individual and collective development.

“As your King, Priest and Patriarch, I do avail myself to serving you all and creating the needed atmosphere for us all to dwell in together in unity as great people of one common ancestry”, he added.

A significant high point of the visit was a joint congratulation to Oku Ibom Ibibio on his reappointment as Chancellor of the Akwa Ibom State University, a prestigious honour bestowed on him by the state Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.
