Ibiono Ibom Stakeholders Re-affirm Zoning Of Chairmanship Position To Ibiono Ibom North for Second Term

Commend Gov Emmanuel For Development Driven Policies

Ibiono Ibom elders and key stakeholders have re-affirmed the zoning of the chairmanship position to Northern part of Ibiono Ibom for a second term in the forthcoming local government elections in Akwa Ibom.

Arising from a crucial stakeholders meeting on Thursday, July23, 2020 at the residence of the political leader of the area and pioneer secretary of PDP in Akwa Ibom, Elder Ntieyong Inyangmme, the stakeholders drawn from the 11 wards of the local government area, including representatives of women and youths, affirmed that the status quo has to remain in a communiqué signed by the political leader for and on behalf of the stakeholders, who attended the meeting and signed the attendance list after about five hours of deliberations.

After stakeholders made their inputs, ”The meeting resolved that sharing and occupation of the key political offices in the local government area namely: chairman of council in Ibiono Ibom and state constituency seats are based on zoning and the occupation of the two political positions should be for a period of two consecutive terms per political zone.”

“Consequently, Ibiono Ibom northern political zone should take her second term  for the chairmanship position in the forthcoming 2020 local government elections following which the position should rotate to Ibiono Ibom Southern political zone for two terms, after which will move to another political zone”.

The well-attended meeting also thanked the leader of the party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom, Gov Udom Emmanuel, and the state chairman of the of party, led Obong Paul Ekpo, for their avowed commitment to respect political zoning arrangements put in place by various political stakeholders across the state to address peculiar political issues in their domains.

Ibiono Ibom stakeholders also in the communiqué commended Gov Emmanuel for his various people-oriented development policies and programmes.

The meeting brought together Rt Hon Ignatius Edet, former speaker, AKHA and honorable special adviser to Akwa Ibom governor; Dr Iniobong Essien, commissioner for science and technology; Mr Daniel Udoh, aka North South; Rt. Hon. Ime Okon, former member for Ibiono Ibom State Constituency; Lady (Bar) Kristine Akpan, Chief Israel Utit, Chief Marcus Okuku, among several other stakeholders.
