The Chairman, Itu Local Government Council, Barr. Etetim Onuk has applauded the Akwa Ibom State Roads and Other Infrastructure Maintenance Agency (AKROIMA) for what he described as excellent job done by the Agency on Nelson Mandela Road.
Barr. Onuk gave the accolades when the Chairman of AKROIMA, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh, Ph.D. led Board members to inspect the intervention job done on Nelson Mandela road this week.
Appreciating the Agency for the intervention, the Itu Council boss expressed happiness that at last, respite has come to the residents and commuters of the area during his administration as the Chairman of council.
He extolled Governor Udom Emmanuel for the good works he was doing in Itu LGA, as evidenced in the intervention on Nelson Mandela road, and pledged continued support of Itu people to his administration.
“I must express my joy and appreciation for the job well done by AKROIMA. My joy is that it is happening in my own time as the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Area. I sincerely thank His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel for the good work he is doing in Itu LGA; this one is a clear sign of his interest and love for the good work he is doing.
“I have seen the quality of job done. I am not an Engineer, but even as a layman, I know this work will last for years,” Barr. Onuk said.
Responding, the Chairman of AKROIMA, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh informed that the quality and quantity of materials as well as expertise invested in the rehabilitation of the road is designed to make it durable.
He urged residents of the area to make it as a point of duty to desilt the gutters in order to maintain the roads.
Prince Ntuk Udeh assured that the Agency would complete rehabilitation on the road and thereafter extend the rehabilitation to Uko Eshiet Street by Ebong Essien, Udoette and Itu Road.
He said that if empowered, the Agency would address the perennial bad spot at Urua Ekpa road, adding that the agency has competent hands to handle the work effectively.
The AKROIMA helmsman thanked Governor Emmanuel for empowering the agency to intervene on the roads, noting that the dry season is timely for the intervention, as it will enhance quality service delivery.
While noting that the State Government is poised on ensuring deplorable roads within the State are addressed, Ntuk Udeh added, “Under Governor Udom Emmanuel, a word is good enough to go to the bank. We will not disappoint in carrying out the mandate given to us. We want to assure Akwa Ibom people that Governor Udom Emmanuel cares regardless of who you are or party affiliation. Governance is the order of the day now.”
On their parts, the Councilor representing Ward 8, West Itam 2, Hon. Otobong Ekong and a Community leader in the area, Chief Aniefiok Ikot thanked Governor Emmanuel for the intervention and applauded AKROIMA over the quality of road and promised the continued support of the people to the government.
