Itu Youth Leaders Honour Senator Albert For Pragmatic Leadership, Meritorious Services
Itu Youth Leaders in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have honoured the senator representing Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources Upstream, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA) for his pragmatic leadership and meritorious services.
Conferring the award of “Ette Uforo Mkparawa Itu” meaning “Father of progress for Itu youths” the Itu Youth Leaders also appointed Senator Albert, who is the Leader of Akwa Ibom State Caucus in the National Assembly Abuja, as a patron of the forum.
In his keynote address at the grand reception/award ceremony for Senator Albert, held at the UBE Primary School, Ikot Mbonde, Itu LGA on Monday, January 3, 2022, the President, Itu Youth Development Forum, Obong Ubong Akpan, said the youths of Itu were very happy for his pragmatic legislative representation and meritorious services.
“The Itu Youth Leaders is convinced of your person, and do find you worthy of our distinguished honour of an award as Ette Uforo Mkparawa Itu and has unanimously resolved that you be appointed as a patron of this noble and unique forum our grandson.
“The conferment of the honour on you today is highly celebrated by the entire Youths of Itu Local Government Area and in general Akwa Ibom State. Your legacy is already imprinted in the landscape of Akwa Ibom State and beyond as a philanthropist, a technocrat, and we implore you not to rest on your oars but keep pushing as God will enable you fulfil your purpose in life,” the President said in his address.
Obong Akpan, who is the “Obong Unwana Itam” announced that Itu Youths have “have resolved among ourselves to work with you in spirit, soul and body like Naomi’s daughter in-law said, in Ruth 1:16, “And Ruth (Itu Youths) said, entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee; For whither thou goest, I will go, and where thou lodgest, I will lodge”: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God”.
The group in aligning with the completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel, appealed to the state chief executive to give consideration to Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency being the part of the old Eastern Ibibio, to produce the next governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2023.

“The dream of our leader, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel is to land well. We hope that in maintaining the peace, the right thing should be done and we earnestly pray that in his succession plan come 2023, Itu/ Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency should be in His Excellency’s mind. Owo isituko abań ikwa afang,” he added.
The President said the entire youths of Itu Local Government Area have unanimously agreed to stand by Senator Albert him in all his future aspirations, and commended him for his simplicity, humility and for being a man of the people for finding time out of his busy schedules to meet with them.
While addressing the Itu youths who came out in great numbers to receive him, Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert, thanked them for finding him worthy to be bestowed with such a noteworthy award and assured them of more service impacts.

The two-term Senator disclosed that his office plans to roll out life-touching programmes for Constituents of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District and others, within the first quarter of the year 2022 and remarked that their show of love serves as an encouragement to him to continue representing them effectively.
