Offot Ukwa Festival of Arts And culture 2022: CPC Inaugurates Subcommittees In Villages
The Central Planning Committee (CPC) for the forthcoming 2022 Offot Ukwa Festival of Arts and culture has inaugurated subcommittees in villages in Offot Ukwa Clan in Uyo Local government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
So far, 20 out of the 22 villages have been covered in the exercise while the remaining two – Ekpri Nsukara and Ikot Anyang will be inaugurated within the week. Villages so far covered are Nsukara Offot, Use Offot, Use Atai Offot, Ikot Ikot Ntuen Offot, Ikot Oku Idio Offot, Ekpri Nsukara Offot and Ibiaku Offot.
Others are Anua Offot, Eniong Offot, Ewet Offot, Uyo Offot, Aka Offot, Iboko Offot, Efiat Offot, Atan Offot, and Afaha Offot, Ikot Okubo Offot, Anua Obio Offot, Ikot Ekpe Offot, Obio Offot and Use Ikot Ebio Offot.
A press release issued by the Central Planning Committee (CPC) and signed by the chairman, Elder Patrick Albert and Secretary, Mrs Nkereuwem Bassey, says with the inauguration of the festival subcommittees in the villages, enlightenment has been created to boost the forthcoming carnival.

According to the press release, the composition of the village’s subcommittee is Chairman of the Village Council; Secretary to the Village Council; President of the Youths Council; Woman Leader; two members of the youths council; two women; a Family Head, who is acquainted with antiquities in the village while the wife of the village head serves as adviser.
The subcommittees are to mobilize their indigenes to participate fully in all competitions lined up for the forthcoming third Offot Ukwa Festival of Arts and Culture which has the motto: Celebrating Unity & Cultural Legacy.
The statement further added that the Clan head of Offot Ukwa and Paramount Ruler of Uyo Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon, has scheduled Stakeholders meeting with prominent sons and daughters of Offot Ukwa Clan to discuss plans for the festival.
The meeting slated for Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler will also be attended by members of the CPC as well as the chairman, secretary and members of the Offot Ukwa Clan Council of Chiefs.
It added that the Clan head of Offot Ukwa and Paramount Ruler of Uyo, HRM Edidem Sylvanus Effiong Okon will soon undertake a tour of the 22 villages of Offot Ukwa Clan before the commencement of the festival.
