Qua Iboe Church Honours Trustee Asamudo At Thanksgiving

The Trustee representing Uyo Township Area of Qua Iboe Church has been praised as a worthy leader in church administration and development.

At a thanksgiving service in honour of Elder (Barr) Udo Joseph Asamudo held at Qua Iboe Chuch, 2 Olusegun Obasanjo Way, Uyo last Sunday, he was roundly commended for successfully executing capital projects that have enhanced conducive environment for worship and spiritual growth of the church. He was elected a Trustee of the church on 30th June, 2017 and has been the chairman of the Qua Iboe Church, Uyo Township since 2012, while currently serving a second term.

Elder Asamudo in his response thanked all members of the church for their sacrifice both financially and spiritually in achieving all the capital projects undertaken such as the construction of the four-storey Qua Iboe House commissioned by Governor Udom Emmanuel in November 2017 and which houses Deaconess Emily Gabriel Ekannang 600-seat event hall.

The Elder Asamudo led Adninistation of the church is currently handling the construction of a two-storey pastor manse expected to be commissioned in December this year.

‘I have seen the sacrifice from you all, even from our youths. I thank you all’, he said of the unwavering support he has steadily received from members and which enables his administration to accomplish capital projects and several church welfare and administrative programmes.

On his elevation as Trustee of Qua Iboe Church, Elder Asamudo who is a retired permanent secretary thanked the church and again pledged to serve diligently
‘You have asked me to serve you and I here promise to serve you throughout my lifetime,’ he said.
He equally thanked his wife Deaconess (Dr) Naomi Joseph Asamudo, children and larger family for always standing by him and encouraging him on in the service of God.

The Uyo Township Area Conference superintendent, Rev Aniefok Hanson Usoro, described Elder Asamudo as a gift to the entire Qua Iboe Church’ while the thanksgiving planning committee chairman, Elder (Hon) Udo Sam Umotan called him ‘a true lover of Qua Iboe Church’

Delivering a sermon on the topic ‘The Worthy is Worthy’, the guest speaker, Revd Sunday J. Okarafor, went through a list of Bjble characters whose actions were worthy before God and man and the attendant blessings that accrued to them. He praised the leadership of Elder Asamudo as worthy.

‘We are here to thank God for someone who is worthy,’ Revd Okarafor , the immediate past superintendent of Uyo Township Area Conference who retired this year, said.

A citation on Elder Asamudo reads that he was born on 12th June, 1957 in Ikot Udoma, Eket Local Government Area, baptised into the Qua Iboe Church in 1968, set aside as Deacon in 1996 and ordained Elder in 2003.

As an astute administrator he held several posts in the civil service as director of administrator, Ministry of Justice and General Services Office, August 2005 to 2007; Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, February 2009 to 2010; Permanent Secretary/Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor October 2010 to June 2011.

He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Ibadan; bachelor of law from the University of Uyo in 2002 and was called to the Bar in 2007.

He also served as chairman, caretaker committee, Abak Local Government Area from August 1998 to June 1999.
