In his quest to bring impact in dividends of democracy to his people, the Executive Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Henry Udofia on Monday January 27, performed the foundation laying ceremony of an Ultra-Modern Market at Idu – Uruan.
Addressing the good people of Uruan at the ceremony, Rt. Hon. Udofia said his administration’s decision to expand the existing Idu Uruan Market is based on his determination to provide befitting structures, worthy of an urban market in the local government headquarters
The council boss assured that the new structures, will on completion accord the Idu Urban Market the expected prominence as one of the major markets in the state. Such investment according to him, will also boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the local government area.
The Executive Chairman further used the occasion to assure the people of Uruan that his remaining time in office will be dedicated to the delivery of massive life touching projects in the area.
Briefing newsmen at the foundation laying ceremony, the Director of works, Uruan Local Government Council, Arc. Rex Ubokulo explained that, Idu Urban Market, after construction will have a 12-number lock-up stores of 24 blocks, another 12-number open stores of 81 blocks, a block of market office, a block of modern water cistern toilet, borehole with outlets to aid in the maintenance of the toilet and spacious parking lot.
Ubokulo also informed newsmen that many live touching projects are ongoing in the Local Government Area.
In attendance at the foundation laying ceremony were, the Vice Chairman of Uruan Local Government, Rt Hon. Bassey Bassey, Leader of Uruan Legislative Council, Hon Lawrence Anado, Councillor representing Central Uruan Ward 1, Hon. Abel James and some staff of the council.
