Ekparakwa Presents New Clan Head To Oruk Anam Traditional Rulers Council
Following the demise and subsequent burial of the former Clan Head, HRH, Obong Johnny Mme Etuk, the Ekparakwa Clan Council has presented the Village Head of Mbon Ebre, Obong Nyang Abel Nyang to the Oruk Anam Traditional Rulers Council (TRC), as the new clan head-elect of Ekparakwa.
Obong Nyang emerged the Ekparakwa Clan head -elect after defeating his opponent and Village head of Itung Ikot Ndem, Obong Udo Eshiet in an election conducted on December 30, 2020 at Ekparakwa Town Hall.
Making the official presentation, Sir Sylvester Ntefreh, who was flanked by the Clan Council Secretary, Engr. Eseme Udofa, said; “As tradition demands, after the burial of our former clan head, the Clan Council met and election was duly conducted. Out of the 14 villages of Ekparakwa, only 7 village Heads who are certificated participated in the elections. Therefore, we came here to present Obong Nyang Abel Nyang to the Oruk Anam TRC as the newly elected Clan head of Ekparakwa”.

In his reaction, the Paramount Ruler and President of Oruk Anam TRC, HRM Obong (Engr.) J. J. Obosi commended the Ekparakwa Clan Council and the entire community stakeholders of Ekparakwa for a peaceful election.
Obosi while congratulating Obong Nyang for his elevation, admonished him to reciprocate the confidence reposed on him with dedicated and committed services to his people.
The paramount ruler also used the opportunity to charge citizenry on the need to always cooperate with royal fathers, adding that any community development is highly dependent on peace, unity and harmonious living.
Speaker after speaker, other Clan Heads from other 7 Clans in the area, welcomed the clan head-elect into the Traditional Rulers Council.
Expressing confidence in the leadership prowess of their new member, the royal fathers offered some useful pieces of advice to the elevated Chief.
On his part, Obong Nyang who used the opportunity to thank his kinsmen for the unprecedented trust reposed on him and appreciated Oruk Anam TRC for the warm reception.
The renowned business man, however, promised to deploy his wealth of experience and social capital towards the development of Ekparakwa Clan.
The newly elected Clan Head was accompanied to the TRC by some Elders, Women and youths from the 14 villages of Ekparakwa Clan.
Prominent in the entourage were, the Chairman of Oruk Anam People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Nsikan Titus, former Secretary of Ibom Airport Development Authority, Barr Solomon Etuk, Obong Richard Raymond (Uko Ekparakwa), Prince Itiaba Owoh, village Heads in Ekparakwa Clan, amongst others.
