Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has advised the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to maintain a high level of probity in service delivery to ensure the safety of road users in the state.
Governor Emmanuel gave the advice while inaugurating the newly constructed office complex, RS6.3 of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Akwa Ibom Sector Command located at Idoro Road, Uyo, on Monday.
He lauded the Corps for it decision to acquire a new office complex for administrative convenience and commended the quality of services rendered in the state, calling on other agencies to borrow a leaf from the Federal Road Safety Corps.
He said “We had so many people then in the Road Safety; people of impeccable character and integrity that were after the safety of the road users. So I still want to believe that it’s still the same Road Safety Corps under your watch. Do everything humanly possible to maintain the integrity of the Service and I want to see the Corps continue in that direction”.
Governor Emmanuel, who sued for high level of professionalism of the Corps towards achieving safety especially during the yuletide reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safety, explaining that the position justifies his decision to increase the fleet of Ibom Air with new aircraft.
He stated that his administration is building a commercially viable economy that will guarantee a sustained democracy and explained that without a strong economy, no democracy can thrive.
“We are building a viable economy because we believe if we don’t build a strong economy, our democracy cannot stand”, he stated.
Earlier, the Corps Marshal and Chairman Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mallam Burkhari Bello, described the inauguration of the new office complex as a landmark achievement and expressed appreciation to the Governor for allocating the portion of land in which the office is built.
The Chairman thanked both the Federal and State Government as well as other stakeholders for their support to the Corps, stating that the new office has addressed the accommodation need of the Corps and assured of efficient service delivery.
