Jamb Has A Human Face
The recent decision by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board JAMB to rescind the requirement of National Identification number for those registering for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is not only a cheery news but the first time a corporate body has taken a considerate action towards the Nigerian masses.
The decision shows that JAMB has a human face and a milk of kindness. For too long now, corporate bodies have been taking decisions that adversely affect Nigerians without giving a damn.
After the hues and cries by candidates and parents that most of these preparing for this year’s UTME cannot meet up with the national identification number requirement, JAMB graciously acceded to their demands.
The technical challenges posed in obtaining the national identification number are cumbersome and not many of the would be candidates can easily have it in time to register for the examination.
If public institutions can always reason as JAMB and think of the people’s welfare, Nigeria would be a great nation with a new lease of life.
