Re-electrify Ikot Obio Etan

May I again draw the attention of the Akwa Ibom Government to o the natural disaster which destroyed electricity installations and damaged several houses in Ikot Obio Etan community in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area. The incident occurred on Saturday, April 6 this year when an unprecedented windstorm swept through the community.

At least 17 electricity poles were pulled down and scores of economic trees felled, destroying rooftops in the process.

Also a transformer facility was partially damaged. The community has been without electricity since then. The disaster was duly reported to the appropriate authorities of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Ministry of Rural Developments for aid. But they are yet to promptly respond.
