Remembering Families Of Fallen Heroes
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day ceremonies were held last week across the nation with pomp and glowing tributes to our gallant service men.
However, while government did all it could to keep the event ever relevant, the private sector, particularly the corporate bodies, were merely bystanders.
The many corporate bodies in Nigeria could have also played their parts in remembering families of the fallen heroes. I don’t think there was any corporate concern that announced any assistance or form of support to such families.
Even churches did not lift a finger to help the families in a corporate way. The nation should now come to the realisation that assistance to the bereaved families should not be left to government alone.
We should come to a time when the private sector will be falling upon itself to outshine the other in publicly assisting families of fallen heroes.
