A Tourism Revolution is Quietly Unfolding in Akwa Ibom State – Sir Charles Udoh

The Managing Director of Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, Uyo, Sir Charles Udoh, has highlighted the enormous tourism revolution quietly unfolding under the administration of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda.

Sir Udoh, in his verified Facebook post, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, said the upcoming completion of Ibom Hotel & Convention Centre, the transformation of Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort, the redevelopment of Oron Beach, the emergence of ARISE Palm Resort, and the planned Oron-Calabar ferry service, are a fascinating tourism boom in the making for the state.

The technocrat, a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, and Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, under whose period the Akwa Ibom Christmas Unplugged Series was introduced, said pointedly that tourism is the new gold.

According to him, tourism is a conveyor belt of employment and one of the biggest economic opportunities available to investors, entrepreneurs, young people, and local businesses.

“Tourism is the new gold. It is a conveyor belt of employment and one of the biggest economic opportunities available to investors, entrepreneurs, young people, and local businesses,” he stated.

The managing director then posed a challenge to those who want to derive benefits and participate in the tourism service chain, when the opportunity arises to get up and gird up.

“The question is simple. Will you be prepared when opportunity arrives?” he added.
