A’Ibom: Factional APC Berates Plans To Blackmail 7-Man Committee That Supervised October State Congress

The newly elected State Chairman and executive members of All Progressives Congress (APC) Akwa Ibom State chapter has described as appalling and infantile, plans to tarnish the hard-earned reputation of the seven-man committee that supervised its October 16th State Congress by the suspended chairman of the party, Dr Ita Udosen.

In a press statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Uyo, the state publicity secretary-elect, Barrister OtoAbasi Udo emphasized that the disclaimer which is purported to have been the committee’s response to an innocent and timeous letter of appreciation written by the elected State chairman of APC, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Hon. Stephen Leo Ntukekpo does not bear the imprimatur of the respectable members of the Committee and so is patently false, incongruous to logic and a monumental fraud that has the potential to impinge negatively on the image of our revered party.

The statement read, “In a manner grossly condescending and depictive of aberrant behaviour, the suspended State Chairman Dr. Ita Udosen and his cohorts have proceeded to make false claims through a purported letter which it mischievously claims as emanating from the stable of the 7-man Committee that was in the state to superintend over APC State Congress, putting the honour and integrity of these umpires at the risk of disrepute”.

According to the press statement, “The said disclaimer is suspected to have been contrived by media goons of Senator John James Akpanudoedeghe with the suspended State Chairman, Dr. Ita Udosen as a go-between, solely to discredit a transparent and legally backed State Congress which produced Hon. Ntukekpo and other members of the State Exco.

The statement further explained, “To confer some semblance of credibility to the ruse, they unconscionably dragged the impeccable names of the members of the committee into their ill-fated disclaimer, an act that is obviously a breach of the law and ethics.

“In their disclaimer, they alleged that Hon. Ntukekpo was impersonating the office and the person of the State Chairman. And the question is: who is the State Chairman that he, Hon. Ntukekpo is impersonating? Is Hon. Ntukekpo impersonating Dr. Ita Udosen, the suspended State Chairman? Dr. Ita Udosen’s hands are already full with the domestic chores of his master, Senator John James Akpanudoedeghe as a full-time servant”.

The party explained that the last election was legally and legitimately conducted and the State Chairman-elect in the person of Hon. Stephen Leo Ntukekpo from Eket Senatorial District emerged, a zone they noted that the office of the state chairmanship was equitably zoned to, as Uyo Senatorial District is expected to produce the next State governor, come 2023.

The party further exclaimed “Behind this scenario of absurdities we must confess that the man behind the scene is Senator John James Akpanudoedeghe, a man who is supposed to be on National assignment as the National Secretary of the Extraordinary Convention Committee of APC, patriotically seeing to the unity of the Party, but sadly, he has dovetailed himself to a pigeon hole in the chapter politics of Akwa Ibom State.

“It is sad to note that Senator John James Akpanudoedeghe has erroneously configured his current office as a launch pad to his governorship ambition, come 2023 and believes that sufficient high handedness and tyranny is the way to realizing the ambition. This mind-set has put the APC in Akwa Ibom State on the throes of unending crises resulting in the challenge of forging unity for the Party.

“Members of APC should be circumspect and armed with the knowledge that the price for democracy is eternal vigilance and every society deserves a government it gets.

The state APC noted that the group has continually proven in their deeds and actions that it is averse to real democracy. “A democracy of any less hue would be against the people”.

The new state party Exco urge faithful party members to be wary of those they described as drowning men and remain calm and steadfast in the pursuit of the ideals of their great Party which would give them victory and the occupation of Hilltop Mansion, come 2023.
