Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has commended the Shelter of Hope Initiative floated by the wife of the governor, Dr. Martha Emmanuel, through her pet-project, the Family Empowerment and Youth Re-orientation Path Initiative (FEYReP).
Speaking in Ibiaku Uruan, at the official commissioning and handover of a three-bedroom flat to a physically challenged, Mr. Anietie Etim, on Friday, the speaker pointed out that the governor’s wife has, through the programme, given hope to the downtrodden and redefined humanity.
While commending the special assistant to the governor on research and documentation, Mr. Emmanuel Nicholas, for facilitating the project, the Assemblyman, flanked by his wife, Itohowo Bassey, congratulated the beneficiary and further showered encomiums on the First Lady for her consistency in ensuring that more families are positively affected through FEYReP.
The speaker announced a donation of a new generating set, wheelchair and a N100,000 business support package to Mr. Anietie Etim.
The lawmaker also joined the First Lady at Ekpene Ibia, Uruan LGA, where she commissioned and handed over the ‘Eti-eka Mary Isaac Okon Memorial Project’ to Methodist Church of Nigeria and a three-bedroom flat to an indigent widow, Madam Hannah David.
Both projects were facilitated by the chairman of Akwa Ibom State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Mr Okon Okon.
The events were graced by the chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, Hon. Henry Udofia; royal fathers, the clergy, uniform organizations, women and youths from Uruan LGA.
