Defend State Interests, Build Lasting Legacies – Political Adviser Charges Media Professionals

Political Adviser to the Governor, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh, PhD, has issued a clarion call to media practitioners to prioritise the defence and promotion of Akwa Ibom State’s interests.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to his office by the Exco and Steering Committee of the Akwa Ibom North East Media Professionals (AKINEMP) on Tuesday, Prince Udeh emphasised that the media, as the Fourth Estate of the Realm, holds a sacred duty to partner with the government for the betterment of the citizenry.

He noted that His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, is working assiduously to transform the state, and it is incumbent upon the media to join hands in protecting the state’s progress.

“It is vital that we focus on putting down legacies that will live far beyond our time,” the Political Adviser remarked.

He credited Governor Umo Eno for doing exactly that through his vision and project initiatives, which are designed to stand the test of time.

Commending the impact of the ARISE Agenda, the Political Adviser highlighted how the Governor’s vision is being felt across all spheres of the state. He specifically cited significant strides in infrastructure and tourism, noting that Oron Beach is wearing a brand-new look. At the same time, projects like the Arise Palm Resort, the Sports Academy in Eket, and the International Market in Ikot Ekpene among other worthy initiatives stand as clear evidence of a focused and performing administration.

Prince Udeh explained that the Akwa Ibom United initiative was established to ensure that human relationships transcend the barriers of tribe, creed, colour, or tongue.

He urged the media professionals to lead the way in discarding “marginalised thinking” and instead embrace a mindset centred on brotherhood, unity, and progress.

He further praised Governor Umo Eno’s peaceful disposition, stating that this humane approach has translated into tangible security, making Akwa Ibom one of the most peaceful states in the country.

Prince Udeh expressed his gratitude to the AKINEMP delegation for the visit and urged them to remain steadfast in their role as defenders of the government’s progress.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman, AKINEMP, Elder Patrick Albert reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the peace, unity, and development of the Uyo Senatorial District, and pledged total support for the administration of Governor Pastor Umo Eno, PhD.

He said the purpose of the visit was to formally introduce the leadership of AKINEMP — a collective of media professionals and social media influencers, with many members, whose primary objectives include promoting unity and fostering love and advancing the collective interests of the Uyo Senatorial District within the broader political landscape of the State and nation, while partnering with stakeholders to support leaders from the district.

Elder Albert described the Governor as a “people-centric leader,” specifically highlighting his commitment to the welfare of retirees.

“From an inherited sum of N111 billion in unpaid gratuities dating back to 2012, His Excellency has cleared over N80 billion. This shows the character of a leader who truly cares,” Albert stated.

He expressed deep gratitude to the Political Adviser for graciously accepting the invitation to host the delegation during its maiden visit to his office.

In a vote of thanks, the Auditor of the group, Comrade Ephraim Ikpe, expressed appreciation for the Political Adviser’s warm reception and insightful remarks.

Comrade Ikpe described Prince Udeh as a “square peg in a square hole,” stating that he has more than justified the Governor’s confidence in his appointment through his intellectual depth and administrative doggedness.

Other members also present during the visit were Rev. Samuel Jonah, Vice Chairman 1; Pastor Edet Ikotidem, Vice Chairman 2; Samuel Abasiekong, Secretary; Itoro Bassey, PRO; Mrs Ekaette Okon Joseph, Treasurer; Comrade Mabel Ekanem, Welfare Officer; Chief Tony Ukpong, Facilitator; Comrade Victor Ukpong, Adviser; Comrade Henshaw Nyong, Director, publisher, The Hill Newspaper, amongst others.
