House Of Representatives Is Blessed With Good Leadership Under Gbajabiamila – Onofiok Luke

The Member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Mr. Onofiok Luke has reaffirmed his confidence in the leadership of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, Deputy Speaker, Mr. Ahmed Wase and the leadership of the House.
Mr. Luke stated this during the flag-off of a 3-day free medical and surgical outreach for the benefit of the people of Etinan Federal Constituency at Health Centre in Ikot Edibon in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area on Monday.
The outreach, which is in collaboration with the immediate past Federal House member, Mr. Samuel Ikon, will cater for different ailments encountered by his constituents.
The lawmaker told his constituents that his endorsement of the Speakership of Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila has yielded dividends for the Federal Constituency.
“Today I can tell you that this Federal Constituency is reaping the benefits of that endorsement that I did for Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. Because without the recognition of the Speaker, I would not be able to be recognised on the floor to ventilate the issues that bother the Federal Constituency, the State and the people at large,” Luke said.
“Tomorrow, give me another responsibility, I will always endorse the leadership of Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. Whosoever you are, I want you to ask God to bless the Speaker, bless the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Comrade Idris Wase and the entire leadership of the House of Representatives”.
“The Speaker has been good with our Federal Constituency, the leadership of the House of Reps has been good with me, the management of the House of Representatives has been good with the Federal Constituency. They have given me the opportunity to bring your issues to the front burner for discourse about what is happening.”
He said he came to the National Assembly to pursue a bipartisan approach to national development.
“I do not have regrets in supporting the agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari that will deliver dividends of democracy to the people of my Federal Constituency and the people of Nigeria. The ones that are not good, I don’t have any apologies for kicking against them. What I do is to stand on the path of right and justice.  And justice demands I must go on a bipartisan approach, to support the effort of Mr President to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Nigeria and back home here too to support the efforts of Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel to be able to deliver the dividends of democracy”. Luke added.
The Akwa Ibom lawmaker also spoke on the support and collaboration he has enjoyed from his predecessor, Mr. Ikon which has contributed to his successes in some areas at the National Assembly.
“There is something good in continuity. The situation where an incumbent and his predecessor fight in office is not always to the benefit of the people, it is because of their selfish and personal interest. Why am I saying this? Right from when I took over office from Rt. Hon. Sam Ikon we have been cooperating because our agenda is not how we can better ourselves, it is how we can better the  lot of our people,” he said.
Mr Luke said he remains committed to attracting the dividends of good governance to his people which is of paramount interest to him. He called for prayers for the leadership of the House of Representatives to be able to steer the nation towards progress.
