Ibiono Ibom Council Boss Charges Teens On Self-Discovery Of Potential
The Chairman of the Transition Committee of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Hon. Comrade Nsikanabasi Ukobot, has urged youths not to relent in their quest to discover their God-given potential if they must excel in life.
The chairman made the charge during the YIMIN Teens Summit, organised by Yak Inam Mkpo Idung Nyin Initiative at Food Affairs, Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo, on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
Yak Inam Mkpo Idung Nyin Initiative (YIMIN) is a community-centred initiative of the Transition Chairman of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Council, Hon. Comrade Nsikanabasi Ukobot, aimed at nurturing the potential of young minds in Akwa Ibom State while giving them the platform to discover, utilise, and expand their talents.
Hon. Ukobot, while inspiring the teens, emphasised the importance of self-discovery, resilience, and personal development in today’s dynamic world.
At the event, his presence underscored his administration’s commitment to fostering youth empowerment and growth.

Comr. Ukobot, explaining the idea behind the initiative, said that it was borne out of his desire to give back to society through projects and empowerment programmes, create a future where both young and old will take responsibility for community development, and a future where people can join hands with the government in building a better society.
Speaking on the theme “Discover Yourself,” the resource person, Mr. Akanimo Kingsley, a renowned public speaker, took time to enlighten the teens on the importance of self-discipline and motivation.
Mr. Kingsley used the SWOT principle to emphasise further and break down the theme to the understanding of the beneficiaries.
Yak Inam Mkpo Idung Nyin Initiative was launched about three years ago and, in its first phase, tutored and mentored young people through seminars and other awareness-creation platforms on leadership and active participation in community development.
The YIMIN Initiative has also trained and empowered many from Ibiono Ibom LGA and beyond on improved agro-farming and rehabilitated solar boreholes for about three communities in the LGA.
The Initiative also sponsored the first edition of the Ibiono Ibom Talent Exhibition and Empowerment Summit, where students and pupils were supported and encouraged with school uniforms, writing materials, and scholarships.
The second edition of the Teen Summit is slated for March 2024. It will have young students, randomly selected from secondary and primary schools, come together for another impactful and interactive session.
