Int’l Women’s Day: Rotary Club Extends Succour, Love to Women
The Rotary Club of Uyo Shelter Afrique has celebrated the 2023 International Women’s Day with pomp and pageantry hosting over 50 indigent women selected across Akwa Ibom communities.
The event with the theme: Celebrating The Uniqueness Of Women And Their Careers” was chaired by the club President, Rotarian Chibuzo Iroadu, who charged the women to remain steadfast in their efforts to surmount the challenges of life.
The Club president used the occasion to lecture the women on the need to always uphold their dignity and respect by ignoring any act that will debase their womanhood.
She also advised them to guide their teenage daughters on the virtuous path to follow in pursuit of a meaningful life and a brighter future.
Going down memory lane, Rotarian Iroadu recalled several women who have excelled in their chosen careers and highlighted that their achievements were a product of hard work and resilience.
She pleaded with the women to aspire higher, and remain prayerful while working hard as success knew no gender.
“We have had women in leadership positions across the country and the world and many have done far greater than men.
She further exclaimed, “indeed, a strong woman understands that gifts such as logic, decisiveness, and strength are just as feminine as intuition and emotional connection, let’s break the bias and continue to empower women to reach their full potential.
Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke to our reporter described the event as another show of genuine love and milk of human kindness from the Rotary Club.
The high point of the event was the sharing of several foodstuffs and cash with all the invited women to help them cushion the harsh economic effect on the people
The items, according to the club’s President, were donated by committed members of the club because of their love for humanity.
