The Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Hon. Blessing Umo, commended Governor Umo Eno for what she described as a bold and unprecedented investment in the education of Akwa Ibom children, following the Governor’s approval of over ₦3.2 billion for examination fees and students’ bursaries.
Speaking with journalists in Uyo on Thursday, Hon. Umo described the Governor’s intervention as a practical demonstration of visionary leadership and an enduring commitment to human capital development under the ARISE Agenda.
She noted that Governor Eno’s approval of ₦1.968 billion for the payment of examination fees for students in public schools, alongside the release of ₦1.3 billion for bursaries—with an upward review of the bursary award from ₦20,000 to ₦50,000 per beneficiary, has once again reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to ensure that no Akwa Ibom child is denied access to education because of financial challenges.
According to the IPAC Chairman, the intervention goes beyond the payment of examination fees, describing it as a strategic investment in the future of the state.
“Education remains the greatest legacy any government can bequeath to its people. Governor Umo Eno has once again demonstrated that the future of Akwa Ibom children matters to him. By committing over ₦3.2 billion to examination fees and bursaries, he has lifted a huge financial burden off thousands of families while giving hope to students to pursue their academic dreams without interruption,” she said.

She said the policy would not only support indigent students but also encourage higher enrolment, improve educational outcomes and strengthen the state’s human capital base.
While the IPAC Chairman urged students to reciprocate the Governor’s goodwill by remaining focused on their studies, shunning social vices and striving for academic excellence, noting that the present administration has consistently demonstrated that education remains a top priority.
She added that Governor Eno’s sustained investment in education mirrors a government that understands that the prosperity of any society depends on the quality of its educated population.
Hon. Umo called on parents, education stakeholders and all well-meaning Akwa Ibom people to support the Governor’s educational initiatives, stressing that the investment would yield long-term dividends in economic growth, innovation and sustainable development.
